Need To Find A New Novel/Audionovel
0
A little while ago I was diagnosed with Depression and I found that reading books or watching movies that have good characters defeating evil ones and that end happily really help. For awhile I had been listening to the audiobook versions of Louis L'amour novels which were well suited for this purpose, as L'amour's protagonists are always good, but good in a believable way, and they always triumph over evil. However after listening to more than 20 of them I got sick of them and tried listening to A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin, which I had heard was really good. However after reading it and getting halfway through A Clash of Kings I've realized that Westeros is a crapsack world with characters who are either assholes, terribly unhappy, or both, and that it was making me feel worse.
So now I've put that book down and am trying to find a new one. It needs to be a good read of course, preferably fantasy or science fiction. It also needs to have good protagonists who triumph over whatever evil they are facing with the story ending happily. Something far enough along the Ideal side of the Sliding Scale of Idealism vs Cynicism to remind me that hope and goodness does indeed exist and has power in the world.
Does anyone have some suggestions?

You're lucky you didn't get too invested in the characters and read Book 3.
OT: I dunno, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars novels
