Program for Anime/Manga Coloring
0
I've been searching for a good coloring program for windows (basically for anime/manga pic), is there any suggestion? And how long do you guys usually take to finish 1 full colored anime pic?? :D

photoshop is very common for artist's who want to be proffessional and are those who are going into the industry but a lot of anime artist's and non anime artist will use SAI, some ppl can finish within hours while others take days, weeks, months etc... it all depends on ur pace.

Paper and a pen/graphite is my medium of choice but you can draw with many photo/image actionable programs with a tablet or one of those digital pens.. it much easier to do your work on the computer if that where your going to use it or colorizing it.

Like Kanu said, a drawing can take anything from half an hour to several days depending on your experience with the software, how elaborate the work is, etcetera.

If you're going to go digital, then you should go digital all the way. Get a tablet and draw directly on your drawing software. Colouring a scanned drawing is not such a good idea unless you know how to properly scan and eliminate the whites. And even then, colouring without a tablet doesn't even compare to colouring with a mouse. There's just things you can't do without the control and pressure sensitivity of a tablet.

As far as tablets go, it depends on how much you're willing to spend on it, and where you look. There are sites that sell art supplies that have promotions/ clearance sales/etc. Look for that if you don't have "that" kind of money.

What. Have you guys ever tried using a tablet? The drawback isn't that it feels weird, it's the lack of pressure sensitivity.
Caramelust, a tablet isn't that expensive at all. You can get a Wacom Bamboo Pen for around 50 dollars (depending on the country you live on). It's really justifiable once you see what it enables you to do.

what i do is draw, do my sketches and line art, on SAI paint tool
then, i color and add effects with photoshop or illustrator
you can draw on photoshop but the lines just arnt as good as SAI, i feel at least
as for the tablet issue, you really should consider getting one, you can just do so much better stuff with them
i use the intuos 4 and its great but the price point is a bit high so maybe the bamboo will do

I have, but only a few times. Having said that, I didn't say i PREFER a mouse, it's just that I can't really get one (and I've done research and talk to people in the industry who recommended me specific tablets) at this point in time. I'm buying pencils, pens, paints, wood, wire, etc etc for classes that don't use digital side of art, and it gets expensive.
I'll stop here, as I don't want to derail the thread.

50US$ isnt a small thing here lol (at least for me) :D but i'll try getting one for sure.. i cant draw with a mouse, it felts weird & i cant control the thickness of the lines (i wonder how to explain it?) o.o maybe my hand is still numb for that xD i love wooden pencil thingy for manual drawing~

Like other said, better purchase your tablet first then the softwares will follow. Digital and traditional have their own good and bad aspects. When it comes with software, I can recommend Easy Paint Tool SAI [SAI for short]. Its easier to use compare to PS and also really light for PC memory. Unlesss if your working with big canvasses, it will eat alot of memory. If you just want a simple colored work then SAI can handle most of your needs but if your aiming for more professional level then have yourself a PS too. I always work with both SAI and PS. SAI for drafts to coloring then PS for effects and color enhancer. The coloring depends upon your own pace regarding if you know how to use the software properly. I mostly work with my coloring for about 5-6 for triple tones. 1 hour for flats only. There are others who really work fast but it really depends upon your skill ;] good luck with your digital life then xD
