Well, that guy is going to become unemployable if the lawsuit does go down and he'll probably commit suicide or result to relying on someone for a large portion of his life. In Japan, any kind of crime affects your employment. He'll probably get fired at his current job.

Culturally, in Japan, things like making a scene seem to be frowned upon since they like harmony, a lot of Japanese people will be nice to people they hate to maintain that harmony. So, that guy is pretty much screwed regardless.
