Skidrow, Razor1911 and Reloaded wars.
0
If you haven't heard about this already, well, you're a bit in the dark.
Let me explain.
- Skidrow releases a Ubisoft DRM crack for Assassins Creed 2
- Reloaded rips the Ubisoft DRM crack, modifies it a bit, and releases a horribly done NFO, written by somebodey who Skidrow knew.
- Razor1911 releases Ubisoft DRM crack and claims to be the first ones to crack the emulator.
- Petty arguing through info files.
- Razor1911 releases a crack for Settlers 7, claiming that cracking is like the good old days again, hard as shit. However, they lied, they just copied the launcher over from AC2 and patched it for S7.
- Skidrow is disappoint. Calls them on their douchebaggery and flames them.
For you non-sceners, this means shit is right about to hit the fan, kind of like when Blade left, and people will start being moved and leaving groups, eventually causing the downfall of one of the big 3.
This will either drastically increase or decrease the rate at which we receive cracks.
Splinter Cell Conviction - Skidrow .NFO excerpt.
What are your thoughts on this, how do you think it will effect gamers and computer users?

Ah yes, the epic battle of the great uploaders.. but I always wonder, where did Skullptura go?From what I've heard, he stopped ripping games because of how ungrateful the community is. I don't blame him either, he got a lot of flak. I love your avatar.

Used to do stuff
Sounds more boring than fansub drama.
I've always wondered why they don't just all work together. I am guessing because that wouldn't make it a fun competition and that stuff is probably boring after awhile. Making cracks can't be that easy.
Game scene has always been good to me, now the TV ripping scene has always made me wanna punch them in the face for their outdated formats.

Originally it wasn't like that. But a lot of the original members of the cracking groups have either left or moved on. Now it's just for fame.

Skullptura is gone? oh that sucks HARD. He made Crysis Warhead (12gb) into 2gb. That's just amazing.
I've been aware of Skidrows tiff with the other uploaders, and I'm generally with them on this one, I'm not really sure what the other sides could say in their own defense. Still, seems minor to me.

Always wondered just what Skullptura did to get compress things so well.http://kgbarchiver.net/
Look at the table tests. They can get quite a few files down to > 20% size.
It all depends on what the file type is, more specifically the varying amounts of binary.
For example
A file with
000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
(Binary)
Will compress to a much smaller size than
1m3a4b7c2j2k7hfk2k2s820007hfm3a4k2s1m3a4b7c2j
How does this work? Well, archiving and compression programs can find patterns within binary code, if that pattern is repeated often, they will remove it from the file and then later add it upon uncompression. It's rare that you'll get a file like this, but I think there are some tricks to getting your file super compressed that I haven't happened upon yet. Sort of like this. I tested it and installed it on my laptop, all to see if it was real, and it was.
Also, Skulluptra was a ripper, meaning he took actual data off of the game, and also changed it, to make the release smaller. For the most part he would take out the videos and replace the sound files with lower quality ones, that brings your game size down quite a bit.
