So...any point in being only a registered user?

I registered to see if I can see anything but nope, apparently you have to be a paying subscriber to see anything. There's not even samples you can look at, just thumbnails. So is there a point to registering other than being the 1st step towards becoming a paying subscriber? I can't imagine people registering for the forums... ^^;;

There apparently will be content for free users sometime in the future (access to older content, I assume), but as for right now no one knows when that will occur. The site is relatively new to the whole subscription model, so I imagine that the staff is still figuring out how to structure a plan for non-subscribers while keeping value to the subscription as well. As for now, there isn't much to do for free users other than using the forums as you mentioned, but I can certainly say that subscribing is worth it if you're interested.

A lot of the users just use the forums. Most of the new users and lurkers just using the site for subscription or waiting for the free library to be worked out.

For FAKKU the point is to have a list of users that they can send teasers to and then can entice to a subscription. Also by having the registry they can boast larger numbers of users when they present the benefits of publishing with FAKKU.
NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT.

I go back and fourth between being a subscriber and a regular. If I exhaust most of the content, then I wait a month or two until becoming a subscriber again.

There isn't really a point to having an account if you aren't subscribing or purchasing books. All you can really do at that point is post in the forums. That being said, the community has dwindled and become a lot less active since scanlations were taken down. It would be great if more people would post in the forums and rejuvenate the community.
