here are a set of questions i hope the community can answer for me.
1st) what makes sports so great?
2nd) why do ppl get worked up over them
3rd) if team looses what kind of mentatlity do the ppl that cause riots have. ( ie: say ur team looser there is a riot and someone dies or just a riot)
see the thing is im a guy but i really hate sports. people are like whats wrong with you. but the thing is i dont like watching/staring as a guys ass when they run up and down or tackle. ill admit sports are very fun when your the one playing, but why do ppl like sports so much like its a way of life.
Plz explain. ty

1)sports are great because of how fun it is to watch and play
2)people get worked up over sports because its a competition
3)the team represents the people or city or country so some will get made if their team looses
you don't have to like sports if you are a guy, but why are you concerned about a guy's ass

1)A primative rush of adrenaline and the horrid need to crush the spirits of others with your victory
2)They're a bunch of idiots that because they couldn't advance past the dregs of society they had to resort to a demeaning ritual of brutality and physical contact to feel equal to our superiority
3)They too serve no purpose but to slow the progress of mankind because their simple minds are not adequate enough to transgress to the state of mind we are now, so like their beloved brutes they too find no compensation for their miscomings but to attack and destroy anything that comes in their way especially another worthless creature that happened to cause this sorrow.

Major League Gaming is the only sport for me so:
1) Its Video Games.
2) Some people have some ridiculously good skills and are idols/inspirational figures to some aspiring MLGers.
3) Riots really don't occur. At least not at the competitions I've attended whether in the Audience or the one Competing.

I really don't know.

From what I have seen, people will riot regardless of whether their team wins or loses. My best guess is that rioting is a result of some form of collective fanaticism.

I think you're focusing too much on the players' asses. I'm not a big sports fan, but I respect the dedication the players put into, not only doing their best, but improving their skills.
I used to play baseball and, I'm not being arrogant when I say, I was awesome. I had to stop playing due to psychological issues, but if I stayed on the path I was on, I can't say I would've gone pro, but I would be living comfortably. What held me back was that I just wanted to play. I never took the time to understand the politics behind the scenes. So, I always got stuck with bullshit teams with "coaches" who didn't know shit.

1. Watching people in peak physical conditions compete and use different tactics is fascinating to watch. Plus you're usually in a group environment when watching something, which can add to the fun in a social way.
2. People can get attached to anything if they invest enough time in watching something.
3. Mob mentality
We Like Sports and we don't care who knows,
Football, Football, Football, Tennis, Hockey, Golf.

No I don't like sports either but I can understand why people do. I think football (soccer) players are the most useless type since they do fall down alot and there's no excuse for how pathetic they can be. I think I prefer rugby because the players really try hard and you can get some amazing people who run all the way through to the end to score a try and they're not pussies.
I don't ever see basketball, ice hockey on the TV much here. Tennis is ok. I find cricket very boring, can't help it. I like the racing, but it drags out too long and all I want to see is the start, the end and a few updates in the middle.

It's a way for people to practice ancient tribal rivalry. it's part of our nature to want to be part of a group, and for that group to express dominance over other groups. sports allow a realitively safe outlet for that.

The obvious answer
Other than that, I've never liked watching, I've always had the impression that if sports are going on, I want to be playing.

I dont like sports at all. I dont like watching them nor playing.
But when Finland won the ice hockey world championship 2011 the way people reacted to it made me lol. When I was walking my dog that night everyone was out on their balconies or on the streets yelling "we are the fucking best" We won, we are better than anyone else" I just couldnt help but think how stupid that is. Those drunken people arent the ones who are best, its the players who actually did the work. While those lazy asses just sit on their couches and drank beer. Still they thing that "we are the best".
I know that what they mean is that "Finland is the best" but the way they say it makes me lol.

Well sports in general are suppose to be fun since it IS A GAME. Though if you are talking about watching sports, I don't know because I'd rather play it than watch it.

My definition of "sport" is anything that requires a unique expertise. sure alot of people play video games but how many can play on a professional level?
