Steak Marinade

I've been making steaks nearly my entire life, but I've never done anything special with the marinade. Its always been italian salad dressing, Dale's, Soy sauce, and Worcestershire (occasionally, I add Tabasco). I've gotten kinda tired of it and was wondering if anyone here does anything special that I could try next time.

Have you tried cooking your steak without a marinade? Just rub the steak with light coating of veg-oil and add a liberal amount of salt and crushed black pepper. It will be the greatest tasting steak in the world.

If it's good steak like rib eye to fillet then pepper and salt is better. Actually mop the grill or pan with saltwater makes a better crust. Other steak then try a rub of garlic, onion powder, Chile powder and good curry powder then after cooking the steak in a pan deglaze with green olives and picked peppers plus soy sauce and onions. Beef stock if you have a little.
Beer marinaded tri tip is also something awesome except unless you live in Cali and some parts of the southwest... no one know it. Google tri tip or triangle steak.

Here is a great marinade for Carne Asada.
It's a mixture of Sunny Delight and Chili Powder, that's it...I don't know the exact combo but I remember it from the Vallarta Market, and it was the best.

Tri-tip, oh my god, I've never heard of that cut until now and it sounds delicious.
Steaks are alot like sushi, the better the quality and cut, the less you do to it. So you got some shitty cuts, marinate it, but you got a nice perfect marble of fat. Pepper, Salt, or nothing, just make sure you grill or pan roast really well. If you don't have the skill to pan roast or grill, you're not a man.
