Drawing tablet or a computer tablet?... touch screens are so flawed... ask your atm machine that is always broken because some tard breaks it because he can't touch it right to work.... go with the tablet anyways

There's a difference? I meant drawing tablets, and I already have one, but I was curious cause I've seen pros use the screens.

Oh you mean like the Cintiq the touch screen tablet... though you meant the touch screen monitor computers.. yeah i have on at my former job... never really got the grove of it... i need a mouse, a pen and paper... but for straight dig works it way better.

The thing with the cintiq is just a matter of preference. It works exactly like the intuos4 and other tablets, except the screen is under the drawing surface (and it costs a shit ton of money). I'm guessing it should feel more intuitive for inexperienced tablet users since you are more conscious of where your cursor is and how your lines will turn out, but I'm guessing with enough experience, a regular tablet should work just as fine.

I've never tried a Cintiq but I've always been curious with how it works. I've been using a tablet for 2 years and I'm quite adept to it. When I first used a tablet in high school it almost came to me naturally on using it [I never once had to look down at the surface]. I agree with Kuroneko1/2 on the matter of preference. Some artists feel more comfortable drawing directly on the screen but others may have gotten used to their hand-eye coordination skills.

Cintiq is great for people who are retouching photos and their traditionally pened works, but people who are just using the tablet to do their illustrations via digital then you really don't need it... unless inking is your goal... then it's nice.

You don't need much accuracy at all with your cursor when photoshopping. But when you're trying to draw tricky lines, the visual coordination helps a bunch. God knows how many times I use the ctrl-z command until I get the lines how I want.

Honestly, Cintiq and tablet's difference will be based upon the artist's usual workstyle. For those artist who are used with digital artworks, tablet will work really fine but for those artist who are used with traditional style [paper&pen] Cintiq is the best choice. The price range is really different but their potential is almost the same. Its upon the user's ability to pull-out all the essential capability of the tablets/cintiq. Im really used with tablet so it will be quite hard for me to use cintiq for sure >.>
The only thing that usually irritates traditional artist once they started using the tablet is the "Eyepen-Monitor Coordination" since the movements of the pentablet can only be seen directly on the monitor xDD < it took me 1 whole day just to study this one >.>

Thanks for the replies. Kind of surprised with the replies tbh, always thought the monitors would be more popular.

I asked a person who uses a cintiq about the difference between a normal drawing tablet and cintiq (touch monitor thing) and he said it's just the same, though it depends how high-end your computer is, cintiq becomes laggy.
If it were not extremely expensive and doesn't depend too much on your computer specs, then I'll go with cintiq. Drawing tablets are still cool though, get wacom brand (:
