I have been gaining interest in the Pianists in the world.

Who do you think is the best and most talented pianist?

What about Hiromi?

I've never heard Hiromi play...

I'm partial to Walter Gieseking myself although he is dead. I also enjoy listening to Ravel play his own music.

I heard Hiromi play when she came to montreal and OH MY GOD, it was amazing! You should give her a chance if she comes to your town.

She's a protege amongst proteges and her improvisational skills are out of this world.

She is the next generation of piano mastery but maybe i praise her too much because i have no comparison and no understanding of the piano except for how to play do-re-mi-fa-so-la-si-do...

Only if you tell me something first - how does one actually determine who the "best" and "most talented" one is without being totally subjective?

But back on topic, GoodDay was probably just asking for people to state their favorites and give an argument for them. Considering the lack of description in the opening post, GoodDay probably doesn't know much about what characterizes a good piano player from the schmoes who play at bars and jazz clubs.

If you believe these eastern pianists are great, you should listen to european pianists. Their composition may not attain to your otaku tastes but technical skill, they are far and beyond anything Yiruma and Joe Hisaishi can do.

Hisaishi is first and foremost a composer..
