True Friends

From the movie Tombstone:

near the scene by the river when wyatt loses his shit and just walks out in the open blasting away.

dude asks doc holiday [why he's there],
doc says, "because he's(wyatt) my friend".
dude says, "hell, i got lots of friends".
doc holiday says, "i don't".

after being stabbed in the back so many times by people who said they were my friend, and having had people unexpectedly back me up when it realy mattered, i can relate.

for me friends are few and far between.

in my 33 years on this shit ball of a planet, i can count on one hand, all the real friends i've had.

my brother however, has had the almost exact same set of friends since kindergarten.

so how is it for you? do you have lots of good friends like my brother? do you have only a few real friends? do you have many aquantences, but no friends?

Many acquittances and a best friend person, probably the only true friend of mine. Though he's an ass most of the time.

There are people I chat with, but only two I trust enough to call friends.

Err .. nope ..
since i am too skeptic and cold IRL .. and most people avoid me because i'm not talkative type of person ..

Talking about just "friend" ..
well i got it .. a few .. but dat's enough for me .. i dunno if i can trust them or not .. but for now .. i will trust them ..

I got too much experience about being stabbed in the back ..
"Friend" is a forbidden word . I can't say it so easily ..

it's weird for me because a lot of people have told me i'm their one of their good/closest/best friends but i think my expectations for the term "good friend" is too high. i'm easily disappointed and therefore i only have a few good friends but a ton of "friends" who are people i've had fun with but don't actually really know

then again i haven't met anyone yet that i could pour my guts out to.
maybe thats why people think i'm "close", i let them do the gut pouring without telling the whole world 2 seconds later.

good point, i forgot about that side. people have told me some deep dark secrets. the kind of thing you wouldn't even tell your 'priest' type person. i heard tales about being raped, molested, abused, etc. even though they were people who have fallen out of my favor, i'd still never reapete what was said to me in confidence.

I only have one "real" friend and a bunch of friends online through forums and XBL. I've lost contact with just about everyone of my high school friends but one, and even then he and I don't get together very often anymore.

Pretty much a bunch of guys I know since elementary school. Others are friends or acquaintances. I can probably count all my true friends with one hand.

Quite a few acquaintances, but I can honestly say that I don't have a single 'real friend' right now, though I used to have a great pal until he left the country. My personality is more reserved and I don't open up easily to anyone so people in my class don't usually approach me.

That, and apparently I sound like I'm about to murder someone when I talk. (-_-)

I only have two people I call friend in real life.

I have a lot of friends, but there are only 2 or 3 that I can call true friends.

I've got about 5 acquaintances, 2 friends, and 0 true friends. I'm not the kind of person that lets others get close to.

True friends are few , backstabbers there are many.

I have two "true friends" who I've known since elementary school. But I've had lots of friends - the thing is not to expect to much from people. If you expect people to have your back 100% then you are going to be disappointed. Everyone has to first watch out for themselves - and you can't hold that against them. If your friend takes that promotion or oppurtunity you wanted, you can't hold it against them.

There are some people you can find a "true friend" who becomes like family to you. But I don't like the term of "true friend" because it makes it seem like the friends you have who aren't as close to you as the people you call "true friends" are somehow "bad" or "evil"

I'm so damn lucky to have so many good friends, IRL of course.

I chat, make accquaintences and sometimes hang out with some of them but none so far, I'm not fortunate. But that may change once I get the hell out of this hell hole.

I was called by a lawyer for some dude i appearently went to elementry school with. 20yrs later, this guy only called 5 people as charater witnesses in his trial*, and i was one of them. i felt bad because i didn't even recognize his name when i was contacted, but i must have made a pretty big impesion for him to call on me so many years later. i couldn't remember him at all so i didn't feel comfortable going to bat for him. plus, being out of contact with him so long, i couldn't honestly vouch for his character. people can change alot in that much time.
