UPS make a ticking sound

Question : Is it normal for an UPS to make a ticking sound randomly? It's new so I dont think it's busted yet. Ah, another thing, for the UPS to go warm/ a bit hot in use is normal right?

I have a UPS and it is an APC brand. The only time it ever make sound is when it switches to battery mode. What type of battery backup? does it have a lcd screen or more like a surge protector look a like
edit: mind never heats up. well, maybe because i think there is an internal fan on mind

If your UPS has an automatic voltage regulator it will switch to the battery whenever the incoming voltage isn't correct. So if your house has bad wiring or your town experiences random power fluctuations you will hear it click every time it switches.
I used to own and use one until the battery in it died and it refused to work without one.

What he said, and battery tends to heat up after using them for a while. Similar to laptop how it heats up if you run on battery. One thing to note is that the worst enemy for battery is heat. So, for every certain amount of heat it builds up, it will ruin the battery causing it to discharge aka less storage to store electron aka less energy to power the pc. It is not because you are keeping it charge all the time.
So, if you ever wonder why laptop battery life is short after 4 years or so is because of this. It is not endangering your ups but it will not last long if this goes on

But as long as it doesnt use battery and keep on using wired connection it's fine right?

well, the point of ups is to make inconsistent voltage consistent. If the power you are receiving from your wall socket is not enough, the ups will use some battery power to fill in the gap.
I am not sure how much charging life cycle does ups battery last in comparison to laptop, but if it doesn't run on battery often, you should be fine
