As an initial sample the 600 most popular torrents on the Pirate Bay were used. The torrents were tracked for a month and a representative sample of one week was used for the final analysis. For each torrent an equal number or uTorrent and Vuze users were selected and these were also matched by ISP, so the type of torrent or ISP could not influence the results. The research revealed a remarkable speed difference with uTorrent users getting 16% higher download speeds than Vuze users. On average uTorrent users reached a 176 Kbps download speed while Vuze users were stuck at 151 Kbps on the same torrents and with the same ISPs.

Discuss, what are the pros and cons of each torrent program? I'd use uTorrent over Vuze any day, uTorrent is specifically made for torrents, while vuze is more of a torrent media app. Vuze is however, open-source and uTorrent is not, meaning BitTorrent could add DRM or Copywrite protection to the program without giving us any notice. So there is a slight risk in using it.

I've been using Azureus for ages and kept using it when it changed its name to Vuze. It also has some features you don't find in regular clients like distributed tracking that can revive and otherwise dead (or restricted) torrent.

Been using Azureus since it was first introduced.
I've noticed the client has gotten fat and clunky over the years and after the change to Vuze it was horribly slow.
Good thing tho you can turn off all said features and run the client bare.
uTorrent is great if you wanna set up a headless torrent box.
