Wallpaper help

I've seen a few really cool wallpapers in my time.
what i want to know is, how do people get a floating, working clock/weather/calender on their wallpaper/desktop? (customizable colors and fonts)

this shit updates every hour for the past few years.
it has EVERYTHING =)
(except a search function, but its ok. theres a tagging service, but most wallpapers are not tagged as the uploaders are lazy.)

I'm finding a super plain and simple text clock i can drag around my desktop.(i also hope to be able to change font and color and size, but thats about it.)

like the picture i posted up, it has the clock with a transparent background that does not spoil desktop viewing. Widjets have opaque backgrounds.
