Rest in Peace, Waar

It is with great sorrow that I share sad news of one of our own.

Last week Waar passed away in his sleep.

Waar had been a member of FAKKU since the beginning. He was one of our most dedicated forum moderators and had a massive impact on the positive growth of our community. There were times where the stress of running a website like FAKKU really got to me, and he was always there to calm me down and get my head straight. Over the years he provided me a lot of guidance and direction that was invaluable.

On top of all that he was a great friend. I'll miss you Paul.

Feel free to share your feelings in this thread.

Rest in peace pauly paul.
He was a bit hard headed sometimes, but he was still good fun in the ib world.

I recall the stories of his interactions with zac, and the questionable content on a harddrive that nearly got him arrested when crossing the border.
Fun times

While sometimes his power as a moderator may have seemed to go to his head and we may have not always gotten along as well as in the years before he got there, I'll honestly still miss the guy.

Thanks for the waifu game, we'll make sure your legacy lives on! :D

I was never super close to Waar but I have always enjoyed his presence on the forum and all the times we've talked. I'm positive Fakku would not have been as fun if he wasn't here. There's been so many things that happened over the years that gave us great stories about Waar we could talk about and have a laugh to.
I'll miss the bastard a lot.

Rest in piece Waar.

Didn't really know you but it was very clear to me that you had an important place in this community.

Farewell, hope the next life is good to you.

I know I don't post often anymore, if at all.

But if anything or anyone was going to make me come back to this place, it was Waar. Near on a decade a friendship cannot be summed up in a few words, but I'll try and highlight the best of it : when he corrected my English, when he called me (lovingly and annoyingly) a cunt, when we fought about books, the 352014 times he was a misogynistic ass, and when we had meaningful and deep conversations about love and life.

This, I can never replace and I will miss it dearly.

Personally, I've had few interactions with you, so I don't have much to share. I still remember the time we spoke over a call and how I ranted about my life circumstances. I still remember when you told me not to kill myself at the darkest of my times, albeit in a joking tone. You probably forgot all that by the point you passed away but it's a time I fondly look back to now.

Your penultimate thread made me realize you wanted to know how everyone was doing. I kinda regret not posting there now, but I'm glad to know you cared for the community till the end. Even if I don't show up much anymore, I've come to really appreciate the years I've spent here.

Thanks for being a judge for my writing contests twice before, and thanks for keeping the community together whenever it was falling apart.

Rest in peace, Waar.

I lost a brother last week. Paul loved Shakespeare, and this quote always come to head when a young man is taken from us too early.

Good night, sweet prince,
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!

Ps. a big FUCK YOU to GRRM, who didn't finish his books in time for Paul to finish the series.

Rest in peace waar. You're probably arguing with Saint Peter right now about some grammar mistake on the sign entering the afterlife.

But whos gonna lock down the cafe when the current iteration becomes "too big"

All jokes aside:
We didnt have many interactions. Played a few games together, were in a few calls together on Discord.
some PMs on here for minor rule violations. But the interactions we did have I found you to be genuinly interesting as a person and way nicer than your appearence here let shine through.

I'm gonna miss you and your shenenigans, old man.
Hope you're getting to meet Senjougahara in the afterlife.

You live on forever in an important script at work now.

9 [We never saw eye to eye in the old days. He hated my bracket use, and sadly, that got in the way of us ever hitting it off. Yet, I always respected his place in the community. Many people adored him, and he started many huge trends here. I thought a few times that I should try and talk to him again, but never got around to it. ...Time is short, people. It's a finite thing, like grains of sand in an hourglass, and we will never know how big ours is, or how many grains are left to us. I missed out on knowing a person who was very loved, and will be missed by many. Goodbye, Waar. I salute you in your final voyage to the great unknown]

Gravity cat the adequately amused
It's always a bit surreal to hear about the death of someone, especially if you only knew them online. His last topic on here was very recent too.

I never personally spoke to him properly but he was a definite presence and the arguements he got into with users made for good entertainment. Not everyone liked him, but to hear about the circumstances behind his death after the fact, it's pretty tragic.

See you space cowboy.

Had to pop back to pay my respects. I didn't really interact much with Waar but he helped shape this community and this community helped shape me.

Rest in peace Waar. Much love.

We rarely got along but I'm sorry to hear you're gone. I'll pour a shot of my good whiskey for you tonight. Rest in peace.

Crazy Ben FAKKU Store Manager
I've not interacted with him much on the forums, but I did talk to Waar a few times when visiting Montreal. He made sure to tell me all the liquor stores and bars in the area of Otakuthon, and I was eternally grateful for that small vice guidance. He even had a friend of his drop by the booth to make sure I'd be content with my libations for the convention.

Pleasant rest Paul, see you down the line.
