Windows + Switches = failed connection

I'm starting to hate Windows and M$.......
Why, oh why couldn't they kept it simple? Now, with windows 7, whenever you're wifi at a new location, it takes nearly 2 minutes to identify the connection, then ask you what kind of connection it is...why?
and it even worst on Windows 8. if you don't have internet connection, your copy of Windows 8(F) mean that your copy isn't activated.
and what makes it even stupider? you need a e-mail with M$ to ensure that your system is activited...
because of this, I gotta install Windows 7U just to get the feature i like best. not only that, but WXP doesn't support any of the newer drivers...:(
what do you think?

I think unlucky first impressions and confirmation bias. Also Windows 8(F)? When you're talking about the Microsoft email do you mean the Windows Live account, because you can still activate and use a local account on a windows 8 machine as you would in win7 or XP. Also, Microsoft does offer phone based activation if you really can't get a stable connection to do activation.

Have you used the ACTUAL legit version of W8? and the F part is the fails.
And the only thing i've noticed when using this method: Modem > Router > Switch, the Windows doesn't grab the IP nor assign you one. which kinda makes it stupid...because you have to plug it directly into the router just to make it work.
Also, the activation still requires connection via internet, which seem kinda moot. and the email activation? even if you used Local account, it still often require an actual hotmail email.
but if you can prove me wrong with the actual link from M$'s site, then i'll gladly admit my mistake.

Not sure where you're grabbing Modem > router > switch option from to connect to a network, and yeah I'm running a fully activated version of Windows 8 Pro from MSDN. How are you connected to post on fakku right now?
A recent copy of 8 I installed was on an offline machine at first, enter in the product key to get the install done, then when open go online grab windows updates and let them run. After which the activation process took care of itself. I don't understand why you're trying to hassle around with email activation as I never required it.
How did you install your copy of windows 8, was in an upgrade to an older system or a reinstall or something to a newer windows 8 oem machine?

Modem > Router > Switch > PC with W8 resulted in an unknown connection and failure to obtain the IPS assigned by the Router. Appearly, a lot of the pcs don't support the switchs...even Windows don't support the Switch itself...which kinda annoy me.
and the thing about the email required for activation was a buddy's laptop that he just bought, which came with Windows 8 Home Edition version. Appearly, he couldn't activate it unless he provided an email. I'm not sure which it is.
and it an install of a Windows 8 on a Desktop that was primed for Windows 7. I'm not sure where it going wrong, but appearly, desktop don't like Switches, which i don't understand, as my consoles and several others seem to be perfectly fine connecting to the internet via the switch.
