British Elections:

It's all started now, The three main parties (if you are unclear) are the Lib Dems ,Conservatives and Labour. I honestly think this could be a close election... a very close election I also think the media are overplaying it. I reckon there is going to be a hung parliment and that Lib dems are going to finally get some power. What do you all think about the Elections?

most likly hung parliment with lib dems having the desiding vote. i don't trust the torys due to mp's Expenses plus the fact that they have lost touch with the 'common people' (mosts are upper class twats form eton). no long trust labour due to the last 10 years of goverment plus blair and brown are conplete idiots (blair brownnosing bush and brown selling the gold at rock bottom prices). will be voting lib dems becouse dispit what people say about them being invisable, they are the only party i feel i can trust any more.

First, everyone was involved in the expenses scandel not just the Tories even Lib dem members were involved (although to a lesser degree than Cons and Labour). To say that they have lost touch with the "common people" that's one of the biggest falls in politics, the fact is nearly all politicians have lost touch with the "common people".The fact is however that when Gorden Brown was Chancellor There was a 2.7% growth average and unemployment went down to 5% which is much less than the eurozones 8.1% now! The fact is when he was Chancellor he had one of one of the longest sustained periods of economic growth in the country's history. However he very arguably failed when he went into Premiership.
But yes I do agree with you about the lib dems though they do seem like the only party I can trust and there is a nice mix of social and market liberals in the party making it well rounded in my opinion it's who I plan on voting for

If anything I think the media is overplaying the idea of a hung Parliament as a disastrous likelihood, when a) the Tories are still in a massively strong position and b) lots of countries have proportional electoral systems, which by nature often produce coalitions, and work just fine.
I personally relate most with Labour, but dislike a number of Cabinet ministers and disagree with a whole lot of legislation on civil liberties among other things; Brown is competent, but laughably poor on the PR front. I'd never vote Tory, but Nick Clegg is hopelessly meek, and messages from the Lib Dems have been mixed on major issues. The manifesto will be interesting, but it's fighting the urge to abstain now more than anything.

You see, I now disagree about Nick Clegg being meek after I saw him take on Jeremy Paxman, A journalist who never fails to make the other person look bad didn't succeed. on terms of mixed messages I do agree on that they went from saying "TUTION FEES FREE" to "We're keeping tution fees" it seems like all their long standing policies have been lost.
Brown gets stupid amounts of Bad press yet people still vote labour.Of course the idea of a hung parliament is unlikely but I hope for it as at the very minimium it will allow a 3rd party to actually end up changing politics which would be nice for once
