Drawing skills leveling up from watching & reading hentai
-1
People have always uesd different forms & mediums to improve their skills over the years in
art universe, but I ask a burning question today can veiwing hentai actually improve your drawing skills
(not pointing to any specific style). I'll tell it. I have gone up a skill level from veiwing doujinshi
but thats because i've studied them,& occasionally fap too. But from that bit i've looked at
how they flow, look,& shaped. N also occasionally researched some of the styles, poses, clothing
used all in a effort to push to higher my skills from the original start or base.
i'm wrong for doing this or have i've pushed myself to do what ever it takes to keep going foward
& improving.

You improve drawing skill from watching real life.
Watching hentai won't improve your drawing, because anime itself is a simplified and exaggerated representation of the human form.
In other words, if you want to draw an apple, you look at an apple. If you draw from a drawing of an apple (and a poor drawing at that), then your artwork will look even less like an apple.

fatman is right.
First, Real things is one of the first things you should start how to learn to draw.
"Realistic Drawing"
Second, you should ENJOY drawing! :')

That's two redheads fooling around with each other.
I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't fap to that.
Also, I have respect for an artist that draws abstracts but can draw realistically if he wanted to, but not an artist who draws abstracts because that's the only thing he can draw.

The best fictional stories are stories where the characters are realistic or act realistically. The characters themselves may be unrealistic (vampires, droids, whatever) or the setting may be unrealistic (diffrent planets, different times), but the characters still act in a believable manner.

If you're already rather adept at drawing, then- yeah- it can help out.
But real life and practice practice practice are the only real ways to improve. One of my ladyfriends models for me, and I use a mirror if I need to draw something with guys.

I never really totally understood abstract artwork. Sometimes the most famous abstract pieces are... overly simple. Like a circle... on a white background ;| But it's a masterpiece~
I love artwork, I really do. But I really don't understand some of the abstract artwork out there. Some of it is amazing. It's intricate, keeps your eyes moving from all the movement in it, and is just bizarre. Others... like a circle with a white background, don't fucking understand.
Sorry, I'm sort of off topic.

To those who say looking at, and ANALYZING hentai would not help a person get better at drawing I anime I would disagree. Different people learn with different methods. I personally am quite skilled at looking at an image, drawing what I see and then memorizing certain key points from that image to help me draw other things thus I think that if I were to do that it would help me immensely with overall full body drawing of characters. I think it depends on the person.

Once again, I am not sure if I should move this thread to the Art and Digital Graphics section, since the latter consists mainly of artworks. I shall leave this topic here for now to see how things develop.
That being said, I don't really have a talent for art so my opinions may not be very valuable. Most artists have their own unique styles when it comes to drawing. Although it is possible to learn from others, including our surroundings, I believe having one's own personal style would make his/her artwork stand out even more.

I think ziggy think pull a interesting point here.personally i think abstract art something of a wtf thing or at least a very lazy effort at doing art,but if not always backed a very strong argument behind it. & for the most parts if not always leaves you with a unrelative "dam i thought of it that way" idea floating in your head about the art piece.

LOL I have a habit of sneaking in like that. I noticed the topic a little late. But Ya, I think it could help someone get better but it depends on the person, their style and their learning techniques. I think it would help me actually. I have a rather heavy style so lines are practically erasable when I draw them, etc. If I dont see an image I cant create one on paper very easily because of that so I tend to draw what I can see. I also think it would only help with drawing anime, not realistic drawing or other forms of art.

I think it's more of broadening your horizons when it comes to genre rather than improving on one's art. But of course I do pick up a tip or two drawing manga by watching and reading Hentai.
