First Amendment- too lax or too strict
0
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Basically in the US, the first amendment gives the people the freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of religion, and freedom of assembly.
I am all for having the right to say what i want, but has freedom of speech and such become too lax, or do you believe it is still to strict. We deserve the right to put out views out their, but some people like the members of the tea party movement has abused this right to attack many figures like Obama and put rash accusations into the open that some ignorant people actually believe. And sometimes, it doesn't even seem like we have the freedom of speech anymore with all these crazy laws suits you hear about over self expression.
What are your views on this subject.

I am less concerned with the lunatic fringe that think they will walk into congress and make a great sweep changing everything, Than I am about the religious fanatics Like the less than reverend Fred Phelps that go to funerals military and otherwise and use the church and the first amendment to spread their hate and ignorance
Lately the Haitian clergy is now blaming the earthquakes on homosexuals. What next Premature balding? GDHSPF
One of these days someone (Not me my eyes aren't good enough anymore) either military or former military who believes in the second amendment as a fix for those who abuse the first amendment is going to post him/herself about a mile away from one of those events with a Barrett Model M90 or M95 50 caliber and Mr Phelps is going to find out first hand what God (if such a deity actually exists) thinks

Cool.

The first Amendment is just right. It is nether to lax or too strict. If gives people the freedom to say what they want to say and do what they what to do(to a extent), it does exactly what it was made to do and that is to allow the citizens of the US to be free. Without the First Amendment are government would have become corrupted long ago.

No, first amendment is good. Cancel it, and you got the government sending cops because you have dissenting opinions.

Religion is retarded
We have a limited freedom because true freedom is anarchy.
There is no such thing, the press is corrupted by it's own hand by only reporting on retards like what lady GaGa wearing or who got a blowjob by.
this is the only true freedom that is still the same has our fore father ment it to be. But the right of assemble is also not real because their is no right to assemble, because you have to get Permission to do it.
Freedom is a false hope because to be truly free there be no government, but since humans are retards and if you let them, we would just rape, kill, and assorted douchebaggery with out control. I think 1984 said it correct.

Freedom has to come with responsibility. That is the truth in it. If you lack responsibility all you will end up having is anarchy which is never the answer.

That may be so, but without change there is no progress, and without failure there is no change. Without conflicting views one cannot 'evolve', and one's existence is proved meaningless.
Loved that book btw.
I don't know if the first amendment is too lax, but if it needs change it can made for the better, or worse. Either way we move forward.

Actually i believe in anarchy, and still do, but i know it can't work because human are still retarded animals.
Our government strayed from the path our fore father envisioned(not sure if that spelled right). The government must be overthrown-ed every ten years to keep it pure and for the people, Thomas Jefferson said once. Me i'm moving to Canada for the health care and lack of government.

Our government changed because society changed. Our founding fathers didn't expect our country to stay the same forever so they made a government that the people can change. They made a government that the people needed at that time.

If there was no law about rape, murder and robbing people... would you do it. Because in places like that like, Chechnya for a example where there is no laws shit like is happen because humans are basically dumb animals and our base impulses are that basic like the animals, we hid under the notion of a higher intelligence, but everybody is a animal. Think about your own thinking, when you see a hot girl, you want to fuck her right, has it ever cross your mind about raping her. We are all guilty of having those impluse every once and while, but most of us don't do that because of the law and we don't want to get raped in prison. We all wanted to kill some one or rob a bank to get some easy cash but again we want not to get jail for it.
That why i believe anarchy can't work and it can only works in a idea world. I don't believe in government because every form of government is flaw and completely unlogical but i do grant we need it and the American form of government is best, but the form we have now isn't what we needed because it run by people who don't care about their people and it's the blame of the party system who only care about votes and their money and power. I love my country and fought in it wars, my family bled for their freedom and pay with their children's life's for the right to be free. my family has been here before this was america. I am the only one since 1821 not to be born here(born in Spain)but since mom and dad are american i am.
Even though i believe in a idea it doesn't blur the fact that the people are tired of a fault government of no nothings. i kinda when off in a rant.

Generalization of the human mind. We're not all impulsive... Most of us can feel sorrow, regret and confusion etc. etc. It's the fact that we dont instantly act one these feelings that separate men from fools. But yes from time to time most people do act on impulses.

Communism?
Systems cant be perfect due to humans not getting along.(a result of a more conscience mind.)

The reason why the current government is at fault is not the actual government but the people who should be running it.(we the people)
The only party actually doing anything about it are selfish, self destructive idiots who dont know shit about what they're talking about(tea party). They are the ones being vocal and the one's who gonna vote..........

No. I would not. Because, unlike you seem to believe, the first thing that crosses my mind when I see an attractive woman is not "Lemme rape that bitch yo!", nor is the first thing that crosses my mind when I see a apparently well-off person "Yo, lemme rob and murder that asshole". (Ok, I admit that when I hear the words "Yo" followed by anything my first instinct is murder, but I control it. And I see it as less a murder, and more a chlorination of the local gene pool, but never mind that.)

We have institutions where we keep those people who are unable to control their impulses.
And yet, frankly, don't insult animals. I've yet to see wild animals kill their own species simply because they had the urge for a mass murderin'.

NO governmental system based upon a common consensus will ever work perfectly. No governmental system based upon the wishes of a single person or a small party will ever work perfectly. Frankly, the only way to have a "perfect system" is to have it run entirely by individuals striving only to better the system as a whole, rather then themselves.
And since, for a species that evolved in a highly competitive environment, that is impossible, you should go with the lesser of the evils, and take your chances.

Curious and Wondering
Nah, the First Amendment is cool as it is.
It's kind of like where our planet is in the solar system - just the right place and at the right distance. A bit closer and we'll be scorched dry. A bit farther and we'd be ice. Besides, adjusting the First Amendment is redundant - countless other laws and rights were passed to effectively draw its bounds.
Ah, if only most people would see that responsible exercise of freedom goes a long way.

Yeah, the first amendment works as it is. If you lack too much responsibility, then the resulting anarchy just don't work. If you have too much control, then you start to remove everything that makes freedom great.
Sooo, yeah.
Sooo, yeah.

Actually that from a book i read in college. I'm actually have a weird mental disorder that make me not feel sensation on my penis. So me raping and stuff wouldn't bring me pleasure. But i got to thinking about victimlogy and sociology classes back in the day and this is what they taught in them... it properly wrong and was edit out years ago but this is what they taught in USF.
Mass murdering animals.... which is true in theory because alpha male does kill every not his in nature(his children and mate), but in the whole, animals don't kill out of pleasure or anything non food or dominance, except monkey's there is cases of apes killing whole family groups for no reason, but that a rare case like humans killing mass amounts of peoples.
Every body was it in them to kill or to do evil things, but a rare occasion someone do it, is it our morality or the law... i can't say, my masters isn't in biology or sociology or anthropology.. i just a artist with a degree in art, but 4 years in the army MP and a Bs in criminal justice i know some things but i can only guess on others.
