Foreign Languages; Not 'Murican

Here's some light reading first: BBC.com: Mitt Romney Speaks French
Okay, now that you've read that, I don't even know where to begin. We wouldn't even be a country if not for the French, and we owe a lot else to those snail eating freaks.
Anyway, I'm well aware that SC is pretty much a combat state of sorts for candidates, and it's painfully obvious that Gringrich is grasping at straws, but this is just pushing it.

If you are going to attack someone, attack them on their political views, not because they speak/look a certain way. It's things like this that make other countries look down on America.

Exactly.
Btw, it's not only the French who eat escargots (the above mentioned snails). A number of archaeological sites around the Mediterranean have been excavated yielding physical evidence of culinary use of several species of snails utilized as escargot. The Romans, in particular, are known to have considered escargot to be an elite food.
Escargot, like caviar, is enjoyed by the high society all over the world - INCLUDING the US elite. The common Frenchman is eating as much junk and fast food as the common US citizen. So the French are freaks based on what evidence?

Hmm. Sarcasm is hard to convey on the internet.
Too late to backpedal but I'm half French, half 'Murican, so I feel it's my duty to make fun of both countries.
In two posts this got really off topic, yikes.

So Gringrich is using others' talents to insult them? Welcome to American politics.
Hey! That thing you do isn't in direct line with what I think is proper and correct!
Toss in a few small lies to make it sound better for you and worse for them, and you have all the political advertisement from the last thirty years.

Here's something funny: they'll slow down the low-ball, "OMG HE'S A FOREIGNER"-type attacks once the General Election stage is reached; then, they're no longer appealing to the half-idiots of America, but to the electors, who are only about one-third idiots.

True. Also, what many people don't understand is that it is not the popular vote that elects presidents, but rather the electoral college. Several of our nations leaders have lost the majority vote but still gained the presidency, because they won the election in states that had more electoral votes than their competitors. This is why you see candidates spending more time in certain states and almost nothing in others. In the past, when technology did not allow for quick-time, accurate vote tabulation, the electoral college may have served a purpose in managing the election process, but now I think it may be time to re-think this procedure.

That would be ideal, however that requires a constitutional amendment...with something as basic as this you would think that there would be no problem with that but they are busy with other stuff and even if they do try to pass an amendment...knowing government, somebody will give it a hard time

It seems we have a redneck/idiot reading this thread here.

We have direct election of Senators, and they're essentially more powerful because 2/3 majority in the Senate beats paper, rock, AND Executive Order.
But this is extremely off-topic.

This'll be the first time I've voted in an Election, and I'm pretty sad that these are my choices so far.
I don't want to do a 'vote in' my first time, but I don't want to vote for any of them either.

Realistically speaking it's now pretty much Romney versus Obama and I really don't like either of them. I would rather have Jon Huntsman, he left and even if he didn't, he wouldn't have won.
