Pictures of the ash clouds and it's effects:
This eruption could last anwhere from a day to several months. The last time it erupted 200 years ago, it lasted 18 months.
Any guesses on how long it will go for? Any of the effects it may have long term? We've already had flooding in Icelandic countries, and it seems like that may happen to Europe soon too.
It turns out the volcano actually erupted right through Icelandic glaciers, melting them, which caused the flood.

All I know is that it is a royal pain in the ass and forced me to waste 30 extra minutes of waiting today. Fucking butterfly effect.

Just be glad it didn't trigger anything serious. Nobody died to my knowledge, and that makes it a good day.
A repeat of Pompeii... not so good.

Going by history, 3 out of 4 times that that Eyjafjallajökull has erupted a larger volcano called Katla has also erupted within a year or two, it's currently showing no signs of it but it could still happen.
