Imposed lust: Where is your shame, bro?

Firstly, I apologize if this topic has been discussed. I've looked through half of pages in SD (starting from the end) and the closest threads i saw were dealing with morality as a whole. I suspect there could be similar topics in Random but it's a pain to look manually through every page, so if anyone remembers said discussions - please drop a link.
Okay, so I was thinking about the subject of nudity, its social aspect with the question of habituation in mind, and the nature of lust associated with it. We all know about the influence of western taboos and, as a result, the closet state of things. But what I am really conscerned about is how we could've been behaving ourselves if there was no shame imposed on the word naked. It is hard for me, a guy who's been accotsumed from puberty to take shared bareness as "malicious" intent, to imagine a society devoid of said traditional constraint. Would there be concealed lust in such community or its people would've habituated to view each others' curves in a non-platonic (maybe "family-like") way. And if the later, then how would they romance (in public) and how would others be taking it?
These and many other questions were reminded me by subliminal messages used in Golden Boy (manga), Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai episode 4, and stuff like that.
Also, I would like to avoid arguments concerning with religious side of the subject and instead, encourage users to indulge in a more, um, hypothetical talk? Thank you.
So... can anyone relate to this?

Nudists colonies exist, and they seem to work pretty well. Though I have to admit that I don't know much about them.
As a person that's lived with clothing as a non-optional thing for my entire life, I cannot easily imagine a world in which the naked bodies of others are commonplace. Whenever I see a naked person, there's a hint of sexuality (unless the person is grossly unattractive). If I see a naked person that looks kind of good, there's a little heat inside my body, and of course if I see a naked person that looks very good, there's full-on arousal. This is the case even if the situation is not at all sexual. (I've even looked at nudist sites, which are for not made as pornography but as places to share the interest, while masturbating, because the naked bodies thrilled me.)
I could thus never be a nudist because I would constantly be aroused by the naked bodies around me, even if they were not all incredibly attractive. But as I said, my entire life, nudity has been something private, not to be shared with others except in sexual situations. If a person was raised around nudity and saw it all the time, he or she probably wouldn't see it as a sexual thing. The question nags me, however, that if a person doesn't find nudity arousing, then what does that person find arousing?

Most people aren't terribley atractive. even less so when naked. i don't know about anyone else, but the idea of being surrounded by a bunch of naked fat, hairy, floppy, gangly, acne covered, cellulite assed average people doesn't sound very apealing to me.

Some people say that bathing together and working in the fields naked was common centuries ago. Does it mean that lust is just another carrot-and-stick tool, massivly trained reaction, omgconspiracy?
Though, j/k aside, I'm talking not about nudism as a practice, but about their mindset. What I'm trying to understand is,
is it possible to get rid of the shameful reaction and arousing associations at the same time, without walking naked everywhere.

But wait, there's more! I was also refering to the public stigma and the increasing accent on censor, which is resulting in approximate growth of insecurities. Op picture was a humorous attempt to unbrace the usual sd atmosphere. Those exibitionists look inappropriate to me too. I'm pretty sure they're bothering other people which, despite it being all natural and stuff, is pretty shitty.
This picture is more in tune with my topic (bit over-dramatic though):

I ran into some nudists before. A friend wanted to try out his new motorboat in the river where we live, so we brought it out and dove around the river. About an hour in, we looked to the right side of the bank, and saw several naked men, a naked old lady(who unfortunately jumped up and made a scene) and a few naked girls, all waving at us and drinking beer. At the time I waved, but I felt rather awkward.
It's just a strange thing to think about. I can understand where they come from, and I don't disapprove of their lifestyle choice...it's just culturaly different. It's not the same culture shock as when one sees a woman in full burka or a small african child carrying a giant basket of fruit, it's something completely different. These are people that are, literally, exactly like the average person..they just decided cothing's an optional thing. I've seen some documenteries on nudists and it's really interesting to see how normal they can be. The boys talk about sports, the women talk about their hair, they have parties, they drink, they do everything regular people do.
Of course there are more extreme cases of nudists who live in mud houses, or those that might worship some moon goddess or what have you, but to be honest, they seem to be in low number compared to the more moderate ones.
Really you just need to look at nudists like a seperate culture with their own values, and it becomes easy to accept them. these aren't 'just a bunch of naked people' this is a 'culture that includes nudity'.

I dunno. It's all about how you were raised, literally.
I don't say that it's their mom or dad's responsibillity but the thing is that those who have their mom nude all day in the house have more percentage on being a nudist in the future. This also applies to those parents teach them that being nude is no shame or that being nude is good. XD

But me and K-1 still don't understand how they deal with sex and boners.

Maybe a non-stop masturbation the night before the event? XD lol.

I lost most of my shame after my second psychotic episode. After that experience, Porn and hentai has become mundane. Nowadays, I just masturbate on weekends. At this rate, I'm gonna end up becoming a modern monk who enjoys doing naked yoga. However, I'm still a virgin, so there is still some uncharted territory I have yet to explore in terms of my libido.
Nudity isn't something I find arousing anymore. I guess you could say I'm desensitized to it. Nudist groups probably don't have concealed lust and just see each other as a close nit community. Idealistically, I think nudists get aroused by the people that they find has inner beauty. I'm a skeptic of love, but I'd like to think that getting aroused by someone you are infatuated with (regardless of physical appearance) is the most powerful sexual experience you can have. Having intercourse with someone you truly care for opens up more than just two senses (sight & hearing), you're also using smell, taste and touch.

By your definition nudists sound like happiest folk. Maybe true. Though I don't think they're all about personality traits either. Idealizations are only good when used on dead people. Mmmm.

We were all born naked.....
I think being a nudist is an ideal which people wanna get comfortable with each other without feeling any sexual tension between them.
Being totally naked I would say is not a good idea to show in public....
having a nudist community is really great and all.. but personally I wouldn't wanna spread that idea since it will cause an outrage on religious groups and also on the groups with a logical mind....
Keep the nudist idea to yourself.. there are some things in the world that are better left off then talked about :)

I dont think there'd be much difference in society if everyone went around naked, I dont think that people would just lose their inhibitions and start making out like rabbits in the street.
If its considered 'normal' then people would go about their day to day lives normally.
Of course in society you'll always have deviant people anyway so in my opinion there would be increased wanted and unwanted sexual activity. Also there would be perhaps more honesty and shame in society if say you got an erection in front of a child. (I dont know how a situation like that would be handled though)
Troubling! :/

Obviously not around in public, since it is illegal and all, but otherwise I quite like being nude. When I'm home alone, and it is in the dead of Summer, I will often close the curtains and walk around my house naked.
I'm one of those who does believe that being naked just feels natural. Like I can't sleep and not be naked. I literally can't sleep if I'm not naked (unless I'm sick in which case I like being clothed.)
So that said, I'm perfectly fine with shedding the stigma of nudity (Ha! See what I did there?) As for the physical attractiveness of others, be that as it may, if we were a society that was culturally raised to not only accept, but expect nudism, then the attractiveness of others wouldn't be a factor, wouldn't you agree? You wouldn't cringe at the sight of an obese person anymore than you may already do a clothed person.
Just because everyone is naked doesn't mean everyone would be going around trying to hump each other. It can't be outright denied because things might turn out that way before we become acclimatized, but once that happens most people would be desensitized to the idea of seeing someone naked, and would have to find out sources and outlets for sexual outlets.

Well, if you wanna be naked, go for it, I personally don't see the appeal on a health stand-point. One of the main purposes of clothing is for protection from the elements, cold, wind, heat, ect. As for the acceptance of the idea, like others have said, I think it just depends on how you were raised. I think the same could be said for someone who, even if they didn't grow up with it, but were exposed to it for long enough, may grow accustomed to it as well. I'm sure nudist are probably a little more self disciplined in their arousal's, but just like all of us, if a hot female nudist starts giving a "mouth-hug" to a male nudist, I'm willing to bet he'll get a boner, just sayin lol.
