IRL nekomimis. Pros? Cons?

So, with out a doubt, there are people out there who desire to be a cat girl/boy. I personally believe that plastic surgery or other such forms of surgical modification like near future genetic augmentation of the body. But in the current day and age there would be major social downsides to anyone willing to undergo the modifications. But, in terms of the thread's theme, what does FAKKU think of the subject? What would be good, what would be bad?

I don't know if we can have a serious discussion on people wanting to be come furries or cat people.... i like to be born with a 12 inch cock but im not going to add another 4 inches on myself just to have a irrational dream of come to be something unnatural and kind of retarded like a neko or a super saiyan.... i fuck one though.

It's really just a question of scientific interest, and I merely wanted to hear the thoughts of the people here on FAKKU.

Psychological impact upon the modified person?
Asides from perhaps some behavioural changes (~nyan), none directly.
What would be more troublesome is how other people would start treating them. I would imagine that it would be very much like tattoos, piercings, breast implants, or other such changes; unless it catches on and becomes fairly widespread, they would be subject to mass derision or even outright hostility- and as consequence, that would likely instigate psychological issues.
It's much like any form of bullying.
I confess myself curious as to what brought this subject about though. Have there already been cases of people going neko (so to speak) ?

Well, I must be honest. I myself have a fetish for cat girls (limited to anime/hentai of course) and I have A.D.D. so I have a lot of random thoughts that I'm wiling to go to great lengths to learn about. And I agree with your thoughts on the subject. It would be interesting to see it become popular in my opinion, just to watch it unfold like a Facebook craze.

Well it really depends of the person right?
While I sometime would love to have a long fluffy tail and ears, it would be really weird for society or at least non-Japanese society.
At least in the States or Canada it would be seen as really overpriced way of becoming weird and socially unattractive.
But if in the future via augmentation it becomes possible, I would definitely think about getting a tail at least!^_^

In theory and years of research i could see this happening.. but the biggest issue being.. the majority of people in power seem to be religious zelots to some extent and would not allow such a thing... now given were certainly a long way off from making such things a reality via science... besides the human race as a whole is not mentally ready to handle such a thing in an acceptable manor... as in people using it as a way to increase their natural limitations and gain advantages over others. if anything close to this should ever ocour, the game/graphic novel Wanko to Kurasou
would the most likely and best path to start twards.
then on the other hand...last thing we need is a world of furrys (im well aware there is a diffrence between nekomimi's and furrys)

You're acting like this would be normal people.
Normal people don't have dreams of getting cat ears and a tail surgically added to them.

I would bet there are people out there that would want to.
Personally, I would never, and I would not really prefer anyone who did. I think hentai is a sort of sanctuary for us, a home away from home, and bringing it down to reality will just crash our dreams

I think if it got to the point where you want to surgically become half-animal, you're already too psychology unfit to apply for the surgery...

It completely depends on the state society is in when one undergoes surgery or is born genetically modified to look like a cat. Life and psychology wise, in the state society is in now, that person would either live in the wild, be a hermit, be an outcast or commit suicide very quickly. Very few people in society today would accept a real-life human spliced with the DNA of a cat. Not because they are "religious zealots", but more because of the moral consideration. I myself would probably harbor ill feelings towards someone who had their DNA spliced with or underwent surgery to look like, a two-legged cat. Nothing is more beautiful than being human and though the advantages of having extremely sharp ears are pretty cool, you're still not, in a canonical sense, a human being.
I can't deny the awesomeness of doing a catwoman, so regardless of ill-feelings I'm still hoping someone in the future will be able to "do" so.

Doesn't mean that I can't agree with what you're saying does it?
I thank you all for your inputs so far. I see a great variation of opinions in the few posts this thread has, and they are all understandable points of view. I hope that people will keep posting.

To tell the truth, I wasn't sure if this thread is suitable for the Serious Discussion section at first. However, some of the replies can be applied to reality and have changed my initial view.
Getting back on topic, I would reckon it is similar to a sex change operation. Some people may feel more complete or confident after a surgery, regardless of whether it was plastic surgery or a sex change operation. Of course, they may have to face the stares and words of others, but as long as they feel good about themselves, it is their right to do so.
At the end of the day, we must always weigh the pros and cons before making any important decisions.

Body Modification in any form is essentially a personal choice ,and will likely be met with some form of resistance from the general populous ,no matter what it is. My opinion is the pros ,and cons will vary from person to person ,but their is surely something very cool about doing a cat-lady.

What ever floats your boat. if you think doing something weird or just unusual will make you feel better, then i say go for it. walk that walk, talk that talk, and do what you gotta do, but fix that sink.
too many people won't truely express themselves out of fear of public opinion. that makes me sad.
