What Would You Do?

I was watching the Joy Behar Show and they were discussing the George Anthony and Casey Anthony case in which they say that the mother (Casey) killed her daughter (Caylee). Then the authorities found some prison letters Casey wrote to her cellmate claiming that she was abused and molested by her father and brother. At least thats what I understood from the show.
Anyways, they were arguing over how the father basically sealed his daughters fate when he denied molesting her and moving his grand daughters body. Joy stated that he should have took the blame to protect his daughter as any parent should.
I side with Joy on this. If my son/ daughter were in trouble and the only way to save them was to take blame for their crime, I would do it in a heart beat.
What would you do?

Depends on the crime and the severity. If my child was killed someone without meaning too, then yeah, i would shield them, but if they were a psychopath...

Who gives a fuck? That happened like 3 or 4 years ago and they are still faffin' around trying to pick jury members. If that was a black woman she would have been sentenced to life in prison not 30 minutes after the trial started, but because in this case it's a young slim white woman, she's been dickin' around for at least 3 years.
No this isn't some conspiracy theory (though it might be a rant), but you know it's got some truth in it.

If she is a psycho murderer, than I'd have her take responsibility and pay for her crimes. If she did it in self-defense or something along those lines, than still no. I'd do what it took to reduce the sentence and support her, but no. Someone is dead, she killed them. Their has to be consequences. I'd be an a wreck on the inside, but taking the blame won't help.
So for me it's not yes or no for taking the blame, it's how I go about supporting my child.

i will admit that even today our society still lacks equality, but (in my opinion) it depends where you live. I'm Armenian and if i do a crime here in Virginia, i might be in the same position as you stated for whites. but if i do a crime in California, they'll throw my ass in jail without a second thought. of course it depends on the level of crime.
some places are better for some than others but as a whole, we have a lot of work to do still.

This is stupid, why should a parent shield their fully grown child from their own decisions? How is this a good thing? Being an adult means taking responsibilities for your actions whether you meant to do them or not.

Sorry if I was unclear.
I was simply asking if your child was in a similar situation, would you try to help you child in some way or hang them out to dry.
I understand where your coming from, but when you become a parent that drive to protect you children doesn't go away when they get older.

thinking like that is taking over protective parenting to the extreme. or like a continuation of the "everybody's a winner" attitude that is ruining the recent generations of kids in america. too many are not being made to deal with the coniquences of their actions.
as for the bit about her being molested, sounds like a dodge to me. making that up would fit with my theory of someone who has never had to take responability.

But details would be important to me. If my kid killed someone that they only intended to hurt, then there isn't too much I could do to help.
