Which one should I get?
0
So, I've finally got enough money to buy a PS3 or a PSP. The only question Is which one should I get, or should I not bother getting one at all?
I should note that in Europe the cheapest PS3 40GB model does NOT feature:
* Backwards Compatibility with PS2 Games
* Memory Stick Card Readers
* SACD Playback
* Ethernet Cable
* 4 USB Ports, (The PS3 40GB model features 2)

I voted for saving for the more expensive one because not having backwards compatibility is shitty. If you don't get it I'm sure you'll miss out on a lot of good games in the future.

What kind of PC do you have? If you can play the latest games with your PC i would be getting the PSP, something you don't have with your computer is portability. Unless you want to get it for exclusives or console only games. Another thing to remember is your screen you will be playing on, you need at least a HD-ready television/monitor to enjoy the power of the PS3 (same goes for the xbox 360, too much aliasing on a normal PAL/NTSC screen). All-in-all, if you do plan to get the PS3 i would certainly recommend saving up for the 60gb model with backward compatibility.
[size=10]ps. i dont own a PS3 or PSP myself, i have done some research on it because i want to get a new console myself.[/h]

I'm not really big on the whole PC gaming front to be quite honest, I'm more of a console guy. I plan on tripping out an old Tower PC I have though so that it can run new games at decent settings.

I agree with quietus, there is absolutely no reason to get any of the new consoles unless you have a high def tv. you may as well just play your ps2 because it isn't going to look much different from that and that's pretty much the whole reason for playing nowadays.
As for the PC gaming industry - its spiraling around the drain right now. The only real reason to want to PC game is for MMO-style games. There isn't that much money in selling non-subscription-based games due to all the piracy thats going on. While there are a lot of really good titles that are only available for PC, you can find comparable ones for the consoles. Also, if you want to play any of the recent games your pretty much going to have to become a computer technician or pay someone to be one for you to get your games running good. Any cheap computer that you get at walmart will do what you want it to do - surf the internet, email, and do schoolwork.

I have a PSP, and although I don't use it ever, I recommend it. As long as you get one that you can hack and put SNES, Genesis and download PSP games onto it. It makes it awesome.

in E3 they announed that the 80g was going to be 399$ US so, you might get a 80gig for alot cheaper soon enough! PSP is good if you can hack it and get old schoolers games. But at the same time, a PC you can hack just has much and even more. Go with whatever you feel like, or just take a chance. I'll be honest its hard to chose you just close your eyes and chose XD;

So, another question.
If I purchase the PS3/PSP what games do you guys recommned?
I know that God of War and Crysis Core for the PSP are must haves, but what other titles can you think of?
Edit:
Quite frankly, I couldn't care less about graphics. Gameplay is the most important aspect in any game. If it's not fun, I ain't playing it. Story would be second followed by music. Graphics is way down at the bottom of my list.

Well, since you're saving up and it might take awhile for you to buy it...here are some games that are out now or coming out soon enough.
PS3:
Out Now:
MGS4 *MGS4 + 80gig bundle is 499.99 right now*
Uncharted
Heavenly Sword *Try to get it extremely cheap. Very short game*
Soul Caliber IV
Grand Theft Auto IV
Devil May Cry 4
Pre-order:
Disgaea 3 Absence of Justice August 26, 2008
Valkyria Chronicles November 11, 2008
Resident Evil 5 March 13, 2009
Fallout 3 October 7, 2008
Mirror's Edge November 11, 2008
Silent Hill Homecoming 9/30/2008
Project Origin *sequel to fear* 10/1/2008
LittleBigPlanet 10/21/2008
Prince of Persia 11/18/2008
Tomb Raider Underworld 11/18/2008
WET 12/2/2008
Final Fantasy Versus XIII 12/13/2008
You can gauge when you want to buy the PS3 by the release dates of the upcoming games. I'm sure alot of them aren't exclusive, so you could just pick them up on the 360 if you have one.

Screw the PSP it is a waste of you money.
PS3 MGS4 bundle!
Grand Theft Auto IV
Call of Duty 4
Assassin's Creed
Tell you teh truth I'm a 360 guy so I wouldn't really know what else is actually "good" on the PS3. I'm jsut stating things on 360 and actually worth the buy for PS3.

Right now I recommend you to wait to buy the PS3, until some of the better games come out, because you never know the PS3 might becomes cheaper by the time those games come out.
Yes buy the PS3

But if you're not planning to install the custom firmwere on it, then I'd say save your money.
