An enhanced remake version for the DS is slated by the end of this year or holiday season.


I'm a BIG fan of RPGs and I was glad to play this game when it first came out. Hopefully they don't screw up the enhanced remake, which I doubt.

I'd say more, but I'm pretty tired. Discuss!?

I think Chrono Trigger is one of the most over-rated RPGs of all time.

Never played it, only played cross, which ironically I found in my closet a few minutes ago.

I really liked the original but, I can't see a remake doing anything besides fucking it up.

I liked Chrono Cross better tbh. Don't get me wrong, Chrono Trigger was the shit, but CC really impressed me. It's ashame it's not as popular as CT.

@ David: It hasn't been confirmed, though it is likely, that CT for the DS is a remake. Considering this is Squeenix we're talking about, I wouldn't put it past them to simply port it.

Port or not, it's nice to see Square hasn't forgotten about the series (or maybe they're just too lazy too make new games)

They want as much money they can get from each franchise. They know people will buy remakes, even if they are straight ports.

Chrono Trigger was developed by a group that Square called the "Dream Team", consisting of Hironobu Sakaguchi, Kazuhiko Aoki, and composer Nobuo Uematsu—known for their works on the Final Fantasy series—and Yuuji Horii and artist Akira Toriyama, freelance designers for Enix's Dragon Quest series. Masato Kato wrote most of the plot, while composer Yasunori Mitsuda scored most of the game before falling ill and deferring his duties to Uematsu

Magazine described certain aspects of Chrono Trigger as revolutionary, including its multiple endings, plot-related sidequests focusing on character development, unique battle system, and detailed graphics

The game was originally developed without involvement from Tokita and Kitase, the latter being busy directing Final Fantasy VII, which at the time was for the Super NES.When Chrono Trigger became a larger project than planned, Kitase halted development of his game and joined the Chrono Trigger staff along with his team and Tokita.Due to this, some ideas initially planned for Final Fantasy VII were implemented in Chrono Trigger instead

What you mean it hasn't been confirmed? The game for the DS or them making it more enhanced? It's been confirmed on July 2nd and by enhance there will be a brand new dungeon. It'd be nice to play this again on the DS even without additional content.

The part about it being enhanced. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that. I don't consider adding touch screen 'functionality', wireless play, and the almost mandatory optional dungeon that's added to about every damn remake/port to be an 'enhancement'.

I would also like to add that I'm in the same boat as Arizth.

yeah I agree with ZeroOBK coz for me an enhancement is like enhancing it's visual presentation... it's true that it's a nice game over rated is a bit true for me having played it and getting tired of killing the Final boss all the time for each endings but to play it again with same graphics is too much... a good example of an enhancement is the game "Megaman Maveric Hunter X" Capcom didn't remake the story but the whole game with an almost PS2 Graphics and an added mode in it... for me that's how a remake should be
