Hatred

What do you think about the game and the controversy surrounding it? Think it will be good? Will it be another scapegoat for the media to condemn violent video games (or video games in general)?

I think Hatred looks boring and the fuss kicked up by it is a farce, the important detail is that the farce was started by someone meaningful: namely Steam.

Pretty much I'll advocate TB's statement.

Technically Steam has the right to refuse service or promotion of a game but when you see games like Postal, Manhunt or similar games meant to star the protagonist as a mass murderer or psychopath on Steam and this game operating under similar context was denied service it's pretty obvious that Steam's taking liberties with that right. It's hypocritical for Steam to refuse that game but allow similar graphical content to exist on their service, it would also help if they actually made a statement rather than silently taking down the game.

Furthermore, suppressing the right for a someone to publish a game on Steam-Greenlight is counterproductive to allowing an indie studio to mature under Steam. Ironically Hatred's gotten more attention than it probably deserves with this fiasco which completely contradicts stifling this production.

Personally I think the game is awful, but it has the right to exist.

EDIT: Gabe Newell made a statement saying he's not responsible for what happened and has put Hatred back up on Greenlight.

I saw the trailer of this game some time ago, frankly it looks like so much rubbish.

Also, while the content is very controversial, this introduces nothing new, games like Grand Theft Auto and, even more so, State of Emergency, already allowed the player to kill innocents at their leisure.

I stopped playing these types of games in my teen years since they tend to get boring fast. This one offers nothing new to the plate, but I'm glad they put it back on Steam. The move to ban it from the store was bullshit and hypocritical.
