How have your favorite Visual Novels stood the test of time?

A curiosity on my part, sparked mostly by going back through Tsukihime after leaving it alone for more then a year.
Everyone here probably has a favorite VN, be it something old like Brave Soul, Critical point, or Divi-Dead, or something new-er like Snow Sakura, Fate/Stay Night, or Wanko to Kurasou. My question to everyone is this:
Back when you played it for the first time, you had an "Omg This is awesome I love it" reaction to it. If you were to go through it again now, skipping no scenes, using no walkthrough, and not relying on your memory, what would your reaction be?
I think, with Visual Novels, a six month hiatus at the least would be necessary to ride the nostalgia wave.
Anyway, I'll go first. Back in maybe 2006, I found and played Tsukihime for the first time, and was instantly hooked. The atmosphere was dark, there was an awesome amount of good piano music, and Arcueid stirred a fanboy's heart in me like only two others to date. It made the top of my "Omgwtf awesome" list almost immediately.
Last night, I went through it again. Clean install, no saves. And...somehow, it wasn't as awesome as my memories hyped it up to be. I was initially planning on Arcueid's route, like the first time through, but even she herself was not the appealing naive heroine I remembered. Rather, she's a cute but major pain in the ass ditz that throws scary as hell temper tantrums. This time, I found myself gravitating towards Ciel.
So, about two hours into it, all of my hopes and dreams were dashed. I'm still a Tsukihime fanboy, no doubt, but in my eyes, it has not stood the test of time. Arcueid became annoying, Nero became funny, Kohaku stayed fucking scary, and Ciel became highly appealing.

There are only two visual novels that I have played over after an extended period of time. The first of those is Nocturnal Illusions. Definitely vintage, but the story to that one has always interested me. I find that after the first time, I get a bit annoyed with how you have to explore every nook and cranny of that mansion every five minutes just in order to trigger the next scene, but the music for that one is always lovely and I really enjoy the characters.
The other one is Angelic Concert. Mind you, it isn't translated, but I play it for the interactive parts. It's one of those Kogado games where you have to play music on your keyboard in order to advance - sort of like guitar hero, but not quite as awesome. Both of these games are alot of fun, and I bust them out every once in a while.

I'm not over exaggerating this, but I had played To Heart 2 on the same route (Guess which route) like more than 20 times already... even now, the game is still on my PC and I opens it like once or twice in a month to skim through the wonderful memories..

The most noticeable VN was maybe brave soul, I spend all the time I have to spend to get all endings. after a year or so tried playing it again but it's not as fun as before since I already know the tips and tricks to beat this game, even in insane mode.
Well, probably the longest VN that still lingers my PC is To Heart 2, and guess who's route must be played at least three times to complete her CGs.
Other than that, It's LOVERS, Figure@mate, and Artificial Girl 3.
Why do I include AG 3 because I like to experiment on all the personalities and traits. I once created onii-chan heaven.

I have played several VNs after a long time without playing them, the most noticeable is Nocturnal Illusion, I have save games that date all the way back to 2005, Dividead is also one that I played after several years and still holds its charm on me.
Now for playing the game and not forgetting the routes the one that takes the cake is Let's meow meow, I kept it in my machine for a little over one year as a leisure when bored game, I pretty much know how to get each route by heart. Another like this was Ever 17, I played it intensely for months and months.

Tsukihime has stood the test of time best for me. Every time I boot it up, I realize once again why it's so amazing. Many VNs are just stock high school fantasies with a twist or two; Tsukihime is a work of art. The plot is dark and gripping, the descriptions and imagery are masterfully crafted. And Tohno Shiki is a wonderful character, probably my favorite from any VN, heroes and heroines. The combination of his fearsome eyes, frail body, and gentle heart give him a sense of depth appropriate to the plot and conflicts. He is one of the few VN heroes who doesn't just seem like a stock character thrown in as an afterthought while the game revolves around the girls and getting them naked/ecchi or to date you. He is a special and meaningful character, which I think adds a lot to the game.
In contrast, a VN like Snow Sakura is great to play through. It had its share of gripping storylines and admirable girls, but it's not a work of art like Tsukihime. The plot, while pretty good, still feels subservient to the girls and the eroge. The male hero is generic. The writing is much more mundane. Even the artwork, while slicker and technically more sound than Tsukihime, lacks character of its own.
I never liked Acrueid much, Her route and character are the most generic and derivative. Personally, I thought the routes of Akiha, Hisui, and Kohaku(although, as is said, she is the "straw man") were where the VN's storytelling was at its best.

Maybe Little Busters ecstasy for me. Not only they have a likeable character but also have a great story. Although as expected from Key they make it so sad. Sigh, I have completed all the route and satisfied but I have no doubt that I will play it again when the patch comes out though I have known 100% of the story cause I have the listen abilty in Japanese joined with AGTH. I`m waiting for the Little Busters ecstasy become an anime and hope they use the Ecstasy not the Little busters cause I miss Tokido Saya.

i was replaying tsukihime a couple months back, it hasn't changed much for me. but after playing other VNs i've come to be saddened that it doesn't have the kind of production modern games have. though to be honest i play it for the story, not the art.
but maybe the remake will make everything even better.
i've been only been playing VNs for a few years now so i haven't really gone back and played any others.
