Koihime Musou battle question
0
I tried browsing and searching before I posted this, so be patient if I missed the answer or if this is in the wrong area.
I'm having issues with the battle system of Koihime Musou. I understand some of it such as General and tactian selection and formation (and what beats what). What I am not so sure about is the charge, intercept, fire functions or maybe when its best to use them. And am usually at a loss of the soldier distribution also.
The first several battles these aren't important really but I seem to be having issues with the first and second fights with Bunshuu and Ganryou (reduce enemy to 15,000 within 10 days and then annihilate), I can reduce the troops in time but it seems my losses are at least as many as theirs and the second battle usually has me at 6kish troops vs their 15k.
With this being the first real battle (with different enemy formations) I would appreciate any help, hints, or general things to keep in mind.
The last question I have is does lose a battle and redeploying have any consequences in the game? I haven't redeployed yet just started the battle over because I wasn't sure if it would affect anything.
Thanks in advance :)

Each battle gives you a good idea of what to have more troops in. Charge is for light, intercept is for heavy, and fire is fro archers. If you have more heave units, you do more damage with intercept. Then you have to get a formation that beats the opponent's formation and you formation has to give +dmg to heavy troops. This is how you do lots of damage.
No consequence for failing. You even get bonus troops on your next attempt.

Isnt the battle system similar to like rock paper scissors? All you do is use the formation that has an advantage over their formation because the higher the number is, the more likely they will attack using that method so for example if their formation is 5-2-1 they will more likely attack with the "5" therefore in order to do huge damage you want a formation similar to something like 2-5-1.

You're both correct. Not only do you need to use the right units, but the correct formation as well to get the highest possible dmg output. The type of general or tactian you use also plays a part in it. So you have to figure out which units work better against other units, and which formation works best against other formations. Also, no consequences for losing. You'll actually start with more units and stuff.
