Massive Chalice

Okay so, I'm going to do something a little different and show a kickstarter game.
(Not sure if it's really different, but due to my absence I know not what people have been doing here recently)
Anywho, this is another Double Fine Kickstarter for an awesome sounding roguelike, SRPG in the vein of Tactics, Fire Emblem, and XCOM. There is apparently bloodlines and children making and legacy carrying on as you play through the game like Agarest, so that's awesome too.

But yeah, shit sounds pretty cool. I think I might back it.

Some people posted kickstarters before it just happens rarely. Concept sounds interesting something I'll keep a eye on, it definitely won't have any problems getting funded

We're inspired by classic tactical strategy games like X-COM, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Fire Emblem, as well as Game of Thrones’ array of noble families. With these influences in mind we’re creating an epic, replayable turn-based tactics game where you train generations of heroes to repel a demonic invasion.
Oh my god.

As much as I love sRPG's I can't help but be suspicious of Double Fine.
They already finished a previous kickstarted with 3.3 million dollars(well the game isn't even out yet), well above their original goal, and they had and Humble Bundle where they no doubt got a slice of the sales.(I donated the average amount and gave them about half of the donation)
Broken age isn't even done yet(they even went above the money they asked and still ran out). I'm not going to donate. If the finished product seems good, I'll consider it.
I know they have more than one team, but this is ridiculous.

All that money is for Broken Age and only one third of the team is working on it. It's supposed to be done later this year, so it doesn't really bother me. You're not alone though, already had this discussion with a friend of mine the other day before I made the thread.
Personally, I don't care. This is for Massive Chalice, all of that was for Broken Age. It takes more than a year to make a game these days, especially when you make millions over your goal, allowing you to do so much more than what you originally intended, but that's just how I feel. I'm down for another kickstarter and trust Double Fine to do right.

They also re released a couple old IP's and released "The Cave" but those didn't sell well. And as I said earlier they also had a humble bundle to raise more funds.
It's become apparently clear that even with all these chances and money given to them, they can't get done things right. It's great that they want to take the publishers out of the equation to get complete creative control, and I love previous works they've released but trusting them is harder and harder.
I know they have a 3rd team who won't be working on anything for a while, but if they didn't screw up as much as they did they would be asking for money. Call me harsh(and if I'm wrong I'll rightly apologize) but at this point I can't help think of them as either scammers or incompetent jerks.
Feel free to do what you feel is right though. These are just my opinions.

Looks realy interesting, the concept of bloodlines is quite good, reminds me of verterancy in many RTS mixed in with a fusion concept in a game of which I don't seem to rememeber the title.
Anyways, yeah, I'll keep an eye on that.
Also, Kickstarter always has cool stuff coming out, like Distance(ooh, I'll make a thread about that(note to self)), the Stomping Lands, Wings of Icarus, Oculus Rift, and other cool projects in need of funding.
So you'll see them pop up regularly in the section, some by me, some by others. It a good way of keeping up with the games coming out.
