Mother 4 Fan Project

To any and all fans of the Mother/Earthbound franchise that Nintendo has long neglected to fans across from the Pacific, there is a fan project in the making for a Mother 4. It has no involvement with Shigesato Itoi and is gonna be playable on the PC. It's gonna be free, though so there's that.



This game is looking really good, and captures the atmosphere and music of the Mother series pretty accurately. It's due for release in Winter 2014. Look forward to it.

I really love Mother 3 but i have only play a little bit of EarthBound but so long as it's keep to the feel of games and has a really good story i well play as soon as it's out.

I'm quite happy with how the game is going. The music in this teaser reflects how Earthbound as a whole was. Happy, charming, and jubilant at the start, but slowly deteriorating to chaos and horror by the end. I'm really looking forward to it.

Obviously it's not an official sequel because Itoi stated in an interview that he was no longer going to work on the Mother series, but it seems like a pretty cool idea.

Sorry for the blatantly late reply. But yes, you are right. This isn't an official sequel, but a fan game being made by a development team of die-hard fans of the Earthbound franchise. It's not in any way funded, endorsed, or acknowledged by Nintendo, Brownie Brown, Ape/Creatures Inc, or HAL Laboratory. It won't be canon to the official storyline that's set by Nintendo or Shigesato Itoi. Itoi himself said that he'd much rather play the next Mother game than make it.

However, hopefully the folks at Nintendo and perhaps Itoi will appreciate the effort and maybe it'll inspire the big guy to continue this awesome, yet heartbreaking-ass series.
