PS3 and 360 and Japan

For last the few years, many of the JRPG's have been coming out on the xbox360. Many of the PS3 fans were quite furious by this since the PS2 had huge support from the genre and it was only natural for them to see the PS3 continue this generation with top of the line RPG's.
Up until recently, the 360 has had most of the new gen jrpg. Until now, every one of those game are getting a release date on the PS3. Games like Eternal Sonata, Tales of Vespera, Star Ocean. And new just out recently, the demo of Lost Planet 2 getting 2 extra mission on the PSN. Most of these games are tweak, add in much more extra content and make the game more balanced. Also the fact that most of them you will be able to keep the original japanese dub with english sub (Which makes many people happy). While i completely understand why japanase dev would do this, since the majority of japanese gamer are ps3 users.
What are your opinion on the fact that many of those games are ''Exclusive to 360'' on the box to only see them release better on the Ps3.
I laugh, while i'm not a fanboy of any console (beside the PC lol), i mostly play my PS3, the internet is free,so there's no reason for me to play much of the 360's game (single player wise). But i kinda feel cheap for 360 only owners being beta testers.

I prefer Xbox 360
PS3's CD is too expensive for me (It's really expensive here)
And Xbox 360 has a cool color

Xbox games and PS3 games are pretty much the same here.
and frankly I don't really care about the extra content. I don't get it? bugger nothing can be done about it and I'm not going to rant around.
On youtube you find enough of those coversations in the 'exclusive for ...' videos. Besides I Keep on thinking "What the PS3 gets will become DLC for Xbox in 6months/a year." so with that in mind I don't really bother myself.

I only have a 360, but it doesn't really bother me too much. It's just business. Sony is used to be dominant from last generation, and they will do whatever possible to fight Microsoft tooth and nail, regardless of whether it seems underhanded or not.
I won't lie and say I'm not a little upset about Tales of Vesperia, but if it comes stateside I'll probably just have my final reason to pick up a PS3 and have both versions, rather than be these lowly protestors. Protesting is good and all, but not when there is literally no hope. Heh.

I don't blame them for being furious with most of the Jrpgs coming out on a foreign console. I prefer the PS3.

With the PS3 having a price drop, Xbox did the same. They're pretty much even now in price and exclusive games. I'll enjoy seeing what happens and who gets the better sales in the next NPD report.

I think all the consoles are good in their own way, but I don't get why there's so much sales competition between PS3 and 360 owners. The Wii and DS are outselling them both by a lot. If you like the PS3 or 360, base it on the great games they both have, not which is selling more 'cause if you just base it on sales, you should prefer the DS or Wii. The fact remains that, unless you have all consoles, you're missing out on some great games.

Their whole next quarter is relying on the fact that Wii fit+ sells. The DS is great and people are obviously picking up on that because the games are cool and the sales have gone up by huge steps. The PS3 and 360 are where the more "hardcore" games are at which is why people are arguing over which is better.

@ Teclo and Shiori: I think that's a conversation better suited to the console wars thread.
I don't have much of an opinion considering I don't own either console. I will say that I was never surprised when a JRPG would be ported over to the PS3. I mean, the 360 sells like crap over in Japan.

The Wii isn't as casual as you think; I used to get into arguments with various Wii owners I know about how crap it is but now I actually have one, I have a more balanced view of it - though you still won't find me defending WiiFit and the like. To be honest, while it's undeniable that WiiFit etc are all very casual games, the genre that the 360 largely depends on is the FPS, and that's also a very casual genre. Go on /v/ or a similar place and try and talk about Halo and you may as well be talking about WiiFit.
The PS3 and 360 are now introducing motion control so they also see "WAGGLAN" as a viable part of their future. The Wii also has some of the most indie games I can think of, such as Muramasa and No More Heroes (and its sequel). I'm not saying that any console is bad at all, in fact I'm desperately trying to be as neutral as possible while still actually offering an opinion, but the Wii wouldn't have sold as much as it has if it was just preying on housewives that want WiiFit. From my point of view, there's also Monster Hunter Tri and Dragon Quest X coming up for it - two of the most popular games in Japan amongst gamers and two of my favourite franchises. Oh, also Tatsunoko vs Capcom, which looks pretty cool indeed.

I hate to say it, but I don't think xbox360 sells as much here do to xenophobia. That and the PS3 is a blu-ray player.

I'm not going to argue about those games like Muramasa (which is really good because I own it)but it really is kind of drifting off. The Wii is losing steam now. It does get a regular burst of new sales from games like Muramasa and Monster Hunter but it also has a huge library of shovel-ware. Now that Sony and Microsoft both have a motion controller coming out in the near future, I fear that the Wii will finally lose it's edge over the competition.
While the Wii was topping the sales of both Sony and Microsoft combined, it has now dwindled into only leading by a small margin of 40,000 units worldwide (From Teclo: I'm just going to edit this in rather than replying because it seems less like I'm derailing the thread this way. The Wii has sold 21 million units more than the 360 and 28 million more than the PS3. The PS3 and 360 combined sales only beat the Wii by less than 2 million). With games such as The Conduit and Madworld not selling up to expectations... I'm not to sure about their software lineup in the months to come. Sega did their best to ramp up the more hardcore games but only 1st party Nintendo games really sell to the Wii's potential. Sony, on the other hand, has a killer line-up this year and Microsoft is steadily building up steam while biding on the good 3rd party support. The Wii has... those games that you stated and not much else going for it. The graphics are also quite outdated now and the motion controls are losing it's pizazz from all the waggle. Maybe Dragon quest, Red Steel, and No More Heroes can save it but I doubt it. The Wii is slowly dying out while Sony and Microsoft take up the torch which is by there are so many heated debates over these two consoles.
Anyways, this is horribly off topic so let's get back on topic. I'm thinking that Microsoft dished out large amounts of cash so that they can have the game released on their console first. A year later, when the contract is null Sony gets its turn and the devs get a whole extra year to add a few tweaks to make it unique to Sony. They both do that to each other so it kind of balances out. Final Fantasy 13 for example. It was hugely Sony based after they switched to the PS1 and now it's on the Xbox because the devs KNOW that they can make a huge profit off of this. Porting to the Xbox is simpler than porting to the PS3 which the devs at Valve have stated. Why wouldn't they sell both copies and reap in double the profits? Both consoles get the games and many gamers are happier for it.

Yeah, seems like the PS3 version of Japanese games get a little extra. Like Nier, we get a penis added onto a vagina.
