PS3 can't play movies

So i'm having a problem with my PS3, it can't play blu ray movies yet it can play and load games without a problem. When ever i put in a movie i can hear clicking noise while it trys to start up which it doesn't. After a while the disc will be ejected and then reloaded right after. I tried to find a answer on google but its no help. Could it be possilbe that the lens are dirty? Yet again if it was it wouldn't read anything at all right? BTW i'v already had it for 2 years and soon to be 3. Does age matter?

Try a dvd. Im not sure if bd reader on the PS3 has codecs or ofw base programing on it's movie reader or what. Maybe update the os. Email sony maybe.

a plain DVD n see if i plays if so then its not the lens but the a issue with the blu ray player its self. how ever if it doesn't play then my good sir just go take it into a local game shop "not retail like gamestop" n have em air blast it clean its only 20 bux for tht usually. hope any of this helps i went through it all b4 ull get through ur dry spell in gamin

I put in a regular DVD and it stared just fine. I even put in bootlegs and music CDS and they work just fine too. I tired to updater the OS and it says it already has the latest update. The movies start just fine on other blu ray players , i dont undertand.

I had this problem also. It eventually spread to my games and made the entire thing unusable. Not saying this is going to happen to you but my solution was calling customer service. They're as helpful as can be.

At least your PS3 can play video games...mine can barely play video games yet it can play movies pefrectly.
