I recently bought a copy of Odin Sphere for my Ps2, but when i load it, it shows the playstation logo, but IT KEEPS GOING BACK TO THE MEMORYCARD/DISC SELECTION SCREEN,
now here's the weird part, I thought the games were scratched, i checked the underside and there were a few but not so many. I put this into my PC (boot up the Pcsx2 Emulator), and IT WORKS COMPLETELY FINE
so what the hell happened?? did my ps2 just die??? is it becoming literally a bitch that wont play my games anymore!???
someone help me T____T
(i have a ps2 slim which i took care of for maybe 5-6 years [maybe more or less] and this happened once before with MGS3 Subsistence, which also works with my PC emulator)
Edit: i tried the rest of my other game and they seem to work fine, so i guess those two games got too many scratches or something
Edit2: NEVERMiND!!!!!!! it was only the discs FIXED!!!!! (got me a cdagent cleaner)

if the same thing happens to your other games, its the lens. buy a new ps2.

You could try cleaning the lens with one of those dvd cleaner discs. But if it's the disc read error, in the long run, it will come back and end your PS2. Like it did mine. I sold it faulty to gamestop though...

i dont suppose there's any other alternative, is there?
live cleaning the lens with some special fluid or something?

If it's the lens, you can buy one, you can clean it too; but sooner or later, you'll have the same problem.

Maybe it's the disc tray, not closed completely.
Try putting something that weighs 2-4 pounds on top of the tray, and see if it reads it.

I rememebr when my 1st ps2 went I got one about a month after launch. I wouldn't play dvds or ps1 games anymore ps2 games worked fine. I brought it to gs or eb games forgot what it was at the time. guy takes it in the back to check it works comes back says its good. The best part was that it was when they price dropped the ps2 to $129 but it was two days before they dropped the trade in value so I go the full $100 trade in for it. Went back a week later and walked out with a brand new one for 29 out of pocket for trading in something that was 2/3 broken.

I used to get random errors like that so I put a tiny circular refigerator magnet on top of the cd-roms magnet and it worked fine. (I have the old ps2) Only problem is that you have to always have a disc in there or it will get stuck and you have to dissassemble your ps2 again. And the Cd drive cleaners with the little brushes on the cds work wonders too.
