RPG Conquest.

For those of you who don't know, the image is of Keima, A.K.A. - "The God of Conquest".
Anywho, onto the subject. I've decided that I really need to make a list of RPG's (majority of them being "old school") that I want to play through and finish. I also came here because I know very well that many of you will be able to provide me with various titles for me to check out and play. So if you have a favorite old school RPG, please suggest it to me and I will check it out. Also if you are wondering what falls under the guidelines of "old school", I am referring to the "retro" type of consoles - NES, SNES, N64. I also include Gameboy Advance or Gameboy Advance SP games as well.
I would prefer mostly these types of RPG's, but if you really feel that you should suggest something newer (Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo DS) then that's fine as well, but I will most likely only look into the older games.
Now,here are the consoles that I currently own/ have easy access to:
Super Nintendo
Xbox
Xbox 360
Gameboy Advance SP
Gameboy Micro
Wii
WiiU
PS3
PS2
Nintendo DS
Nintendo 64
And now, here are the games I have invested time into. (I will list "newer" games as well.)
So, who on first? None other than:

(Also known as Final Fantasy IV)
I've had this game since I was a young lad, and it seemed to have no end each and every time I tried to play through it. Once I was finally old enough to comprehend how these types of games functioned I tackled it as forcefully as I could, yet it wasn't until recently that I got near the ending of the game. I still haven't beaten it but I plan to finish it sometime very soon, once I get some more grinding in.
The story itself is lengthy, beautiful, yet depressing as hell. There are some twists and unexpected turns in the story but it keeps me engaged the whole way through. If you want to read some about why I consider it so depressing, read the spoiler below. If you have considerations of playing this game for yourself, please don't ruin it by reading the spoiler; continue to the next paragraph.
If you really don't care about spoilers, here you go:
In my opinion, this is the Final Fantasy that has the most beautiful prelude.
Here it is:
Second game:

I have to say, this game is quite the treat. I got it for 18 bucks used but DAMN was it worth it. There are 3 games in this package. Final Fantasy I, Final Fantasy II, AND a bonus game that isn't listed until after you beat the second game - It's called, "Soul of Rebirth". I just finished it today actually, which gave me the motivation to finally create this topic. Beautiful, magnificent story line in both of the games. (Which is to be expected from Final Fantasy games.)
FFI has a traditional level-up system, but FF2 has a very unique leveling system. Instead of just leveling up over all, it instead relies on the skills that you utilize in battle. So if I used the spell "Fire" in battle all the time, then that spell alone would level significantly. I think it's rather interesting. To be honest, neither of the games provide much background on the characters. Everything else makes up for that, however.
In the first game there are four elementally based dungeons that all contain 10 floors which are randomly generated when you enter them. These dungeons contain various bosses from past games at the end of the dungeons, which is a pretty cool idea. Upon completion of the second game you will unlock the third game: Soul of Rebirth. It's kind of a secret of what it is, so I'll put it in the spoiler if you don't want to find out what it is just yet.
Also, this game has kick-ass music. Here's my favorite theme:
Third:

Honestly I don't have much to say about this game because I've hardly played through it. I got to this town with a wrecked ship in it that I'm supposed to fix or something, but I got bored with it because I never really figured out what to do. If anybody has any reason why I should finish this game, let me know because I need some motivation to.
Fourth:

This is an RPG on the SNES and it is bad-ass. I loved the fuck out of this game's battle system, storyline, and especially music. There's even a 100 floor dungeon that has no save function so that you have to play through it all in one sitting. (It's a bonus dungeon though, not part of the story!)
So what did I love most about it? *MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT*
My favorite battle theme is from this game:
Fifth:

Breath of Fire II. I just recently started this game back up and I'm now in the process of preparing for the final boss. I have to say that I am really impressed with this game.(Except for some, uh, translation "fails".) The characters are all incredibly unique and come with pretty detailed backgrounds as well as many of them having a large segment in the story that revolves around them. What kept me interested was the incredibly unexpected twist in the storyline, which even creeps me out. Details in the spoiler.
SPOILER ALERT!
Incredible boss battle theme music:
Sixth:

Has anyone even ever played this game and actually enjoyed it? I played it for 15 minutes at most and I had to quit because quite frankly, I think this game is a wad of dick. I cannot stand it in the slightest. I've tried multiple times to give it another chance but the horrific music and gameplay makes me want to violate myself with the controller.
Here's a gameplay video of this game:
And as for the "newer" RPG's that I've played, they are as follows:
Morrowind
Oblivion
Skyrim
Final Fantasy XIII
Fable
Fallout 3
I barely started FF XIII-2, so I really don't have anything to say about it.
Now I played Blue Dragon and I LOVED IT. However, I can't beat the final boss because I'm currently a bit under-leveled, so I need to do some grinding. I'm just too lazy to start it back up. I'll get to it sometime soon though, since I have it on this list. The boss theme for this game always makes me chuckle to myself, here it is:
Here are some games that I am planning to play:
EarthBound
Harvest Moon
Final Fantasy III (Or really any Final Fantasy game that I get my hands on.)
Secret of Mana
Harvest Moon
This is all that I can think of at the moment. Now, if you have an RPG that you would like to recommend to me, please do! Post some screenshots or maybe some music from the game and I want you to tell me why you think that I should play it.
Thanks, guys!

I have a few to suggest.
Star Ocean: The Second Story on PS1/Star Ocean: The Second Evolution on PSP
I've had this game for about twelve years and I remember playing it as a kid, but I don't think I got very far in it at all. I started playing it again a week or so ago and I'm hooked.
There's a PSP remake as well. That one's probably cheaper and easier to come by and it apparently has animated cutscenes as well, so if you have a PSP, it's probably the version I'd recommend, but I've never played that version. I'm just going by the quality of most of the PSP remakes I've played. The PSP is a pretty crappy console, but if it did one thing exceptionally well, ports of old games were it.
I'm only about 12 hours or so in, so I can't say if the story is fantastic or not, but it's got me hooked so far. Great combat system, an interesting and well implemented skill system, a great story (so far), gorgeous graphics and a spectacular musical score. What's not to love?
Terranigma on the Super Nintendo
This one was only released in Japan and Europe (maybe Australia too, but I'm not sure), but it's easy to find a ROM for it. The gameplay is similar to Secret of Mana. It's a semi-sequel to two other SNES RPG's - SoulBlazer and Illusion of Gaia - I've played Gaia and it's very good. I haven't gotten around to Soul Blazer yet, though. Terranigma also has a great soundtrack and I can attest to it having an amazing story.
Phantasy Star IV on Sega Genesis
I'd put this right up there with some of the best Super Nintendo RPG's. The combat system is a little hard to get used too though, and the item and spell names are strange - you'll see what I mean if you play it. I had to go into Gamefaqs and write down what all the spells and items did in a notebook for quick reference. But it's still a fantastic game. People seem to pay more attention to Phantasy Star II, and for the life of me, I don't know why. Phantasy Star 2 is undeniably a great RPG, but 4 is a masterpiece in my opinion.
I'll have to think about some other RPG's I could recommend. I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Try Breath of Fire 3 for Playstation, Sword of Mana for gameboy advance, and Star Ocean the Last Hope for PS3, and 360.

Alundra on the PSX. This is the single best RPG I've ever played. The game revolves around Alundra and his ability to walk and manipulate dreams. This game has some fucked up athmosphere at times, as you'd expect.
Secret of Evermore for the SNES is also a fantastic game. Very interesting and subtle storytelling as well.

Xenogears for the PS1 is amazing as well. I don't know why I didn't think of that with my initial post. It's one of those games that most RPG fans will know of, even if they haven't played it.
Another one I'd recommend - it sort of gets a bad rap, though. Final Fantasy Mystic Quest on the Super Nintendo. It's almost insultingly simple and easy, and my last playthrough of the game took about ten hours total. But it's got a certain charm to it. Besides, it's a great RPG to play when you don't want to invest a lot of time and energy into a game. And the soundtrack is amazing. It's also a lot cheaper than most Super Nintendo RPG's. If you want a physical copy of the game, you can get one on eBay for a little over ten bucks.

1. Legend of Dragoon - It has a great storyline and one of the most challenging battle systems out there.
2. Threads of Fate - Two great side stories, fantastic music, and hours of fun.
3. Xenosaga - Interesting battle system, characters, and long lovable cutscenes.

Most of my favorite rpgs were on ps2, i know they arent retro, but heres a couple that are absolutely worth trying out.
Dark Cloud 2 for playstation 2 is absolutely fantastic. Its a dungeon crawler type rpg. Great story, and some really really fun elements, like building towns and traveling to the future see how it changes. Also the weapon upgrade system is incredibly fun.
Grandia 2(i played it on Dreamcast but i believe it was released on playstation 2) is fantastic. Bought a Dreamcast for it back in the day, the story has some amazingly dark and emotional moments, and the combat system is really fun. Very addicting game.

I recommomend Final Fantasy XII for its expansive world of exploration. When an area unlocked I would take a few to explore it before progressing. Often it would be a few hours before I continued on with what I was doing. XD
Final Fantasy 7 for not only its popularity, but never forgetful moments. I am already on my 6th playthrough and I am loving that is still told. You can play it on the ps1 or buy it from the playstation store and either play it on your ps3 or psp.
Xenogears. I don't know much about it but I have been recommended it many times by my friends.
Any Star Ocean Title
Star Ocean: The last hope -360/ps3(?)
Star ocean: First departure -PSP
Star Ocean: Second evolution -PSP
Star Ocean: Blue Sphere -Gameboy Color
Star Ocean: Till the end of time - PS2
These are similar to the final fantasy series in a way. But they all are related to one another in via a timeline, and I listed them in that order. Alot of creativity these games have and in-depth storys. Remember that there are secret characters in some of these titles that you can have for your party.
Legend of Dragoon. Another PS1 Favorite of mine. Only on disc two but I am loving the story.
Xenosaga 1, 2, and 3 for the ps2. These are wonderful if you can get past the battle system that 1 and 2 had. Dam good story.
Disgaea series I would count as an rpg, even though its considered to be a tactical role playing game. Fun, humorous, and challanging.
Dark Cloud. A very good anf fun rpg. Have yet to play the second title, but I will eventually since I loved the first.
I will think of some more as I remember the good storys I greatly enjoyed from the rpgs I played.

What sites would y'all recommend that I buy these games from?
I plan on actually purchasing them as opposed to using an emulator.
Ha, anyone willing to sell them?

amazon I recommend as you can contact the seller, and amazon makes sure the product is as what it should be. Ebay all I here is "its all about the money" and "this ain't what I ordered" from my friends. Gamestop I recommend too, but you won't find oldies like ps1, NES, SNES, N64, etc.

I agree with GamingNerd places to buy would be Amazon and Gamestop(only places I consider buying games)
Other rpgs would be Tales Series(surprised no one mention it)
Fire Emblem(any)
Since you mention Harvest Moon give Rune Factory a go as well
Dragon Quest (5-9)

I've never had a bad experience with eBay before. Heck, I've gotten some pretty good deals. I got Phantasy Star IV for ten bucks, if I remember right and another time I got Xenogears for twenty bucks. And that's just my video game purchases.
I've never used Amazon.com before, but I have a friend who collects games and uses them on occasion and he says he's rarely had any serious complaints.
Also, I just checked out Inindo on an emulator... You're right, it's fucking horrendous.
