Super Mario Galaxy 2
0
Gameplay
Gameplay is similar to Super Mario Galaxy, with a focus on platforming based on and around 3D planets of varying sizes and landscapes. Power-ups such as the Bee Suit will be making a return, along with the Launch Star for interplanetary navigation, and the Airships operated by Bowser's son Bowser Jr. in its predecessor.
Mario will be able to ride the bipedal dinosaur Yoshi like he did in Super Mario Sunshine, and can use his tongue to swing across gaps, as well as eat different fruits that give him different powers (also seen similarly in Sunshine), such as the ability to inflate like a balloon and float, as well as speed boosts. While the player retains the ability to collect Star Bits with the blue Star Pointer from the first game, while riding Yoshi the Star Pointer is replaced by a red dot, which allows the player to also aim and control his tongue.
Release Date
2010
Platform
Wii
I'm definitely getting this! After seeing the trailer, I'm glad it's going to be more challenging than the first one, but I'm a little disappointed that they're not gonna focus on the plot for this sequel. I hope to see Rosalina in the sequel, I look forward to 2010 for this game.

Oh the number of times Mario had to save the world and/or peach and barely getting anything for his efforts...I mean a kiss on the nose?
In reality he'd probably be like "Bitch, what? I just saved your ass AND your castle, you better fucking put out or IMA GONNA CHARGE UP MAH FIREBALL"...
Ahem, anyway, I don't own a wii so I dunno if this is gonna be good or not...I stopped playing mario games after the gamecube.

I don't know. It will really have to wow me before I consider getting it. I mean Super Mario Galaxy was nice because it felt like a return to form, but I don't see how they are going to have the same charm in the second game without it feeling like a rehash of the first. I don't want Super Mario Galaxy 1.5. I'd rather spend my money on something else.

I think this is fanservice to the hardcorefans.
I will buy it. But I do not think that game will be funnier than Mario Galaxy 1.
( btw: sorry for my bad english. I am German )

As if the plot was anything significant to begin with. Anyway, I'm getting this. There's still a lot that can be done with Galaxy.

Mario games are all about the plot. ;)
I agree with tsurayu that this is like mario galaxy 1.5. It better be pretty darn good cause even the dev themselves said they were just sitting around thinking, "wow, we sure do have a lot of extra mario levels that didn't get put into the game! It sure would be a waste not to use em!"

I don't want Super Mario Galaxy 1.5. I'd rather spend my money on something else.Technically, all Mario games are pretty much the same. You jump, you kill baddies, grab power-ups and reach the end of the level to win. That main formula hasn't changed that much.
As long as the levels offer something different (which is encouraging by watching the trailer), I'll be happy. The reason that this may feel like a rehash is because Nintendo is using the same engine for a Mario title for the first time in 23 years.
Also, don't put it past Nintendo to make a completely different game for this sequel. Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask and Metroid Prime 1/2 all used the same engine and graphics but they all played differently.

I suppose. I just don't see how pretty much the exact same setting is going to be different enough, but maybe I'm just overly pessimistic.

Around 90% of it is going to be completely new. Second, you're not anywhere near being a pessimist. If you were, you wouldn't be excited about L4D2 either.
