Tales of VS
0
Namco is developing a Tales game where it's gameplay is similar to Final Fantasy's Dissidia for the PSP system. The game will feature 35 characters from the Tales series. (Tales of VS means Tales of "versus")
Tales of VS. is slated for a Summer 2009 release for the PlayStation Portable in Japan. U.S. release has yet to be announced.
I'm a bit sad since I don't have a PSP myself for this game.
Here's a trailer.

Hmm...I don't know how I feel about this. On one hand, hells yeah since I love the Tales series, and I have always enjoyed the combat. On the other hand, a combat game alone means that there won't be the fun story to go along with it, or all the other elements such a game would usually have. To top it off, the fighting in Tales is already pretty much like a fighting game, therefore all the fun. ...almost seems that just having a fighting game for this seems a bit silly, especially when you take gakes like Radiant Mythology, where you are able to pick characters from several Tales games to do your thing already.
I'll definitely check it out once it's released, but I'm not that excited...maybe if it has some interesting features.

I thought they put Tales of Vesperia too in PS3 platform..... Hahaahaha, my loyalty to Sony has finally paid. I can enjoy the RPG in PS3 and the fighting game in PSP. If they just translate the PS2 Tales or at least put it in PSP then translate it, it will be perfect

I must concede to the fact that I, too, was one of these "guinea pig"s. :( But alas, the purpose in complaining at this moment is nonexistant, and I have already found much joy in my beloved 360 copy.

Then I`ll wait for the arrival... Though I heard the text in the preview gameplay is already English.... If that`s true....... Heheheehehe

all the characters have been decided and i do hope that they release it for the USA.The Tales of VS name has already been trademarked in the United States, so chances are pretty good there will be a U.S. release.

Since wikipedia says Rita is playable, I will be maining Rita :)Why not just see her in action now in the second trailer? For some reason the battlefield design looks like Super Smash Bros to me.
Here is some game play from it also.

It'll be interesting to see if because Tales of VS has connectivity with the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia, if that by inclusion, means that the PS3 version of Vesperia will also come out in the U.S. as Tales of VS is likely.
Anyway, I'm not fond of the idea. I thought Dissida was the dumbest idea Square Enix has come up with in recent years, and I hate to see Namco Bandai stoop to their low level.

Don't think too much about the premise and just take it for what it is Think of it as a guilty pleasure like the special battles at the colosseum in the Tales games.

(Two of my favorite characters.)

If they can make a game with the same level as Super Smash Bros, then i'll be quite interested. But i'm not very knowledgeable with the "Tales of" series, i only played ToP, ToE and now waiting for the PS3 version of ToV ^^
