I mean, it was cute when the game was pokemon or even metal gear solid. But i'm sure they knew or at least suspected that eventually they could tackle a game that is simply too complex and requires too much precision and timing to pull it off. But they probably said, fuck it let's try it anyway. I just checked and 3 days later they're still in the asylum.
I have heard the argument that people are blazing red hot on this now but will eventually get bored, leaving only the hardcore fan behind, banding together and actually finishing it. So who knows. I didn't even expect them to finish pokemon red to be honest. Especially in that anarchy.

It just seems like some of this isn't just gonna happen especially when certain parts of them requires certain items like the ring of firewalking or abysswalking there is no way that they can get those on and don't get me started about Sen's Fortress that place is gonna rack up a death count faster than anything provided they make it that far

If they finish the game then it'll guarantee a crowd for the next one since people still haven't realized that the way the games actually get finished is by hardcore nerds in small groups doing all the work once the crowd thins out. It'll be interesting to see what the limit is for something like Dark Souls though.
