Mustn't Run Away...
I figured since their seem to be a collection of rather avid pokemon players on here I might get an answer. Yesterday I bought a used copy of Soul Silver at my local gamestop ,and popped it into my DS today ,and was greated by some save data that they seem to have forgotten to erase. On it I found a completed Pokedex , several "rare" lv.100 Pokemon ,and some Shiny Pokemon...I also found a maxed out wallet ,and 900 of just about every item.It seems that whoever owned the game before was using a cheat device ,but they also seem to have created an error on it because HM & TM don't work ,and flight is impossible. So all that said I wanted to know if:
1.If I erase the game will the game still be broken or will it work properly
2.If I trade out some of the cooler pokemon to friends will it damage their games thus ruining their hard work
3.Is their a way to salvage the game if it is damaged ,or is a return to gamestop my only option.
Any help, tips,or advice would be great. Thanks in advance guys(and gals).

1. It will work properly.
2. Nope. However, I would hate to go against them in a battle. Sounds a little unfair to give them overpowered Pokemon. Your choice though.
3. Cheat devices very rarely brake a game. This is coming from a guy who has been using cheat devices on portable systems since the original Game Boy over a decade ago. Your copy is fine.
P.S. - I think Pokemon is very boring if you play it with hacked Pokemon. It's just more fun to catch them all naturally and to grind (train) away when you get your ass handed to you.

Training Pokemon is fun...But EV's and IV's is just tad bit tedious and almost stupid at some points.

I had to Google all of the stuff you guys were saying, whew. Whatever happened to just training a Pokemon? Has Pokemon really become serious business? lol

Use Povesav.
Pokesav is an app on your computer you use to create pokemon and send them to your ds by linking your DNS from your PC to your ds. Also a legality checker should come with it, so you can check if your pokemon are legal. All you need to know is how to get your hidden ID number if you want to set the OT to yourself when making pokemon. Otherwise put it as you acquired it in a trade. Let's you have any pokemon with all legal stats and skip Iv/ev training. I don't know how to get the hidden ID. I had someone do it for me. Google pokesav if you're interesting, I don't have the link because I deleted it once I got my event pokemon.
It's pretty lame that people hack/cheat, but if you really want rare pokemon the easy way, then go for it. I only use pokesav when I miss events, like the mew event or Darkrai event. One of those events when you miss out you miss out.
Also, just erase the game data and start over.

Omg I never knew there was such a thing as pokesav. *facepalms* (remembering all the times I actually did breeding and all that stuff, so many hours wasted.)

Well basically it lets you skip EV and IV training completely, so along with event pokemon I also used Pokesav to skip the bullshit Iv/ev training. I still caught the pokemon myself and raised them to 100, but I'll be damned if I spend 6 hours trying to hatch a pokemon egg until I get a pokemon with good IV's and another 6 hours EV training just for one pokemon.
Like I said, just put you obtained the pokemon in a trade and make up an id number. If you want to use your own ID, might want to ask Kenjugs, the new mod on how to do that. He told me how but I don't remember since I just usually put mine set to acquired in a trade.

I do it but you'll have to wait a bit, I have no idea where my ds disappeared to so I'll look for it later.
