Live sex shows are still a thing in Japan, but not so openly discussed. There was a nightclub in the early 2000's called "DX" in Hachinhoe, that allegedly allowed willing participants to bang a bar girl for free, but it had to be in front of everyone. I never found the place, unfortunately.
