Underrated games you need to play

I didn't see a topic for anything like this, so here's one.

I play a lot of games. Occasionally I pick up a game no one really pays attention to or even considers trying out. I wanted to post some of those games and see some of your choices as well.

Please don't post shit like CoD, Gears, Halo and God of War. Those are not underrated games, those are mainstream. Seriously. Don't.

I suggest looking up gameplay on youtube or info on ign about games mentioned here. Don't take others opinions too heavy. See and experience it for yourself.

2. Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard
3. Vanquish
4. Singularity
5. Ys: Seven

Not every game has to be a Call of Duty, a Halo or a God of War. I think these games are great even if no one played them or the critics gave them bad reviews.
I only know one person who's played these games besides me and that's because I told him to play them(besides Ys: Seven because he doesn't have a PSP).

I won't pour my opinions about these games here, if I wanna do that I'll make/post in a thread about that specific game.
If you are looking for something to play, please try these. They are some of my favorites.

4) Company of Heroes <- I'm not sure if this is 'underrated,' but I've yet to come to many discussions yet
5) F.E.A.R <- I'm not too sure about this either, but many of my friends haven't played or even heard about it.

..This seriously made me realize how 'mainstream' I am about choosing my games... I want to play Alan Wake but the PC version was cancelled so I'm left out D:

Played Singularity but I found it to be rather generic.

Singularity's good, I like the way you can manipulate time for a certain object there with that glove(forgot the name). I see Alan Wake but where's Heavy Rain?

Saints Row. There is no reason why that game franchise should still be overshadowed by GTA just because they're both sandbox crime games. If anything, I'd say that SR is better do to gameplay and all of the fun shit you can do.

I didn't really think of Heavy Rain as underrated. It got a lot of PR in my book.
But it is a game people should play, that I agree with.

Nier, more people need to be aware of this gem of a game!!

Those 3 games are underrated? Hardly, it is seldom you hear anyone that has played any of them speaking badly of them, and they are highly rated everywhere you read.

One underrated game I'd like to mention is Silver, an old and AWESOME RPG.



It is not underrated, noone plays it becuz it sucks. There is a reason why they were forced to cancel it only 2 months after it's release, and from what I can see, the "refinished" version aren't much better.

Who underrates these games? I'll tell you who,those morons over at IGN,Gamespot,Gamespy,etc. Allot of dumb people listen to their bias opinions and miss out on awesome games they give bad ratings to.For example both SAW games are awesome they gave it a bad review just because they are noobs who suck Donkey balls. Seriously if you own a PS3/X360 go play those games they are actually pretty good but you just have to be quick on your feet.

Haunting Ground, seriously i think most of the people haven't hear about this masterpiece, Also Parasite Eve I & II don't know if those are underrated but i the only one of all my gamer friends that has played those ones.

Rule of Rose is pretty underrated. It's about lolis killing each other.

I never hear anyone talking about those games. That's why they're underrated to me. And I agree with Mr. Tifa about how the games are underrated as well.

Front Mission Gun Hazard for the snes was a pure gem for me (along with FM3), but it sorta got shoved aside as another 2D shooter. It had its charm though with a compelling story, great graphics and quite a few customization options for your wanzer.

Another game is Shogo: Mobile Armor Division, quite an old fps it had surprisingly difficult gameplay (especially the ridiculously difficult on foot missions) and of course many opportunities to trot around a town blowing enemy tanks and peeps and other whatnot to smithereens. I think what makes this game quite enjoyable aside from the characters (and decent voice acting) is the load of references to other manga and anime with the cyberpunk /sci fi theme (ghost in the shell being one of the main inspirations).
