I liked WA3
I think I tried WA4, but didn't like it
How's the storyline in WA5? What's gameplay like?

The game battle system is the hex system same as Wild arm 4.
I don't like the story of wild arm 4 because the girl character die in the end because of the stupid illness she have.

Bump for great justice.
I'm playing Wild Arms 5 now, and I gotta say - I love it! This game is positively hilarious, I've only been playing like 6 or 7 hours, but the characters are great IMO. The male main is a bit cliched though, but that muscular professor guy makes up for it, haha.
Awesome:
- Hilarious characters, great humor
- Hex battle system adds a new level of strategy to battles (Ley Points ftw)
- The OST is cool
- Wild Arms character cameos all over the place (!)
- Sol Niger system FUCK YES (switch encounters on/off after beating a special boss character in each dungeon)
- Combination attacks are a cool addition
- Stunning visuals (but I'm not a gfx whore, just sayin')
- Story is good so far; mysterious characters and the whole outline of the plot make you want to know more
Awful:
- male main's voice is a bit annoying at times
- the slide action is somewhat tricky to coordinate (like in the mine dungeon, made me miss the target a few times)
- voice acting is sparse and kinda random
- battles are either too easy or too hard at times, entering a new dungeon can throw you off guard
- Random encounters are set too high in some places IMO, but as a die-hard Tales fan, I'm accustomed to that lol
- you're stuck with one character on the field, I liked the old tools system better (the shooting system ain't bad though)
All in all, this is maybe my favorite Wild Arms. It has a great combination of elements we know and love and modern elements that spice things up, like the hex system and combination attacks. If this game keeps on delivering, it may as well become one of my top 5 games ever.

Male main character is REAAAALLY annoying.
I also like turning off the encounters.
What I loved most in this game is the cameo appearances. And wearing the costumes from the old Wild Arms series characters. I love that Anastasia/Yulie costume for Avril. Also Kanon's costume for Rebecca. Butler costume was kinda cool too.
Lol, actually I haven't beaten this game. I stopped before finishing the last dungeon because I just don't feel like finishing it without finding that ONE LAST TREASURE CHEST THAT I'M MISSING TO COMPLETE THE GAME.
I'm not a perfectionist when it comes to RPGs but it's just that I've decided to complete this game and even printed out a treasure chest checklist only to get one missing in the end. I'm lazy to go back in all the dungeons, lol. It could be in the world map too.

about the voices... English dubs sucks hard with Dean's voice... lol, Yuri Lowenthal failed a this one.
the Japanese voices were done by Hiro Shimono (Akihisa Yoshii, Mikuriya Jin)
anything other than that... I'd be repeating Nash's words all over again.
Really loved Rebecca and Avril, and they're Japanese voices are from HQ Voice actors
Rebecca, Nana Mizuki (Fate Testarossa, Ogata Rina)
Avril, Shizuka Itou FAVORITE VA XD (Kousaka Tamaki (MY WAIFU) Katsura Hinagiku)
And Great OP song by Mizuki NAna
haven't finished this one cause I lost motivation, and got somewhat "lost" while playing the Jp version. Now, I'm trying to replay it back since I got the Undub version now.

Can't say i don't like WA4~5 but. Both games are good in every aspect except....story.
WA4 Wut? Children lost?
WA5 Wut? Children getting through a wall?
My favorite ones so far are WA1 and 2. Those were some hardcore games which i play even these days.
Best parts in WA4~5 for me were: WA4- numerous optional bosses. WA5- mono-wheel...

^I agree with the story of Wild Arms 4 and 5 being meh.
But I did enjoy Wild Arms 5 till the end (or at least before the last dungeon, like I said). The battles were fun, though I prefer the old battle system myself.
The opening is also nice but I would have wanted to see an anime opening. Though I agree, it's a nice song!
My favorite in the series is Wild Arms 2. I like the story, the characters and most specially the soundtrack. The OST of the Wild Arms series is one of the best.
If I'm going to arrange the Wild Arms games that I've played from my favorite to least favorite it will be like this:
Wild Arms 2 > Wild Arms Alter Code F > Wild Arms 3 > Wild Arms 5 > Wild Arms > Wild Arms 4
(might be inconsistent with my other posts elsewhere but I'm sure 2 is always the best for me)
I haven't played XF yet.
Oh yeah, and I want another Wild Arms >_<

Don't bother Playing XF, it's one of the STIFFEST Tactic games I've ever played...never finished, I like the characters design though.
it's will probably be located at the bottom of your list of wild arms.

20 hours into the game and it's still all good.
Carol's voice is kinda out of place and annoying, but the game still kicks ass.
So far, my main party is Dean (tank), Avril (mage), Carol (healer, long distance fighter).
Also, Ley points make or break a fight. Avril's Ley Change is more powerful than I'd imagined. If you got Dean and Avril on the right Ley points, you can basically smash a boss in one or two rounds.
But I had some enemies ninja me to important ley points and I got an instant wipe-out, too...
And the Sol Niger bosses are total pushovers so far... basically, all the bosses were o_O
