Discussion of FAKKU Improvements

This topic was started to continue a discussion that began on another post, all users are invited to post your opinions and suggestions here on ANY ways we can improve FAKKU. The first post is my post from the other thread, please respond to the suggestions myself and others post with your responses, opinions and improvements. Lets make FAKKU even better!

Actually those are really good ideas and I would like to implement them. Perhaps I should set up a page where you guys can see what I have in the works and what I plan to do from time to time because these things have been on my to do list. Or those interested could meet online somewhere and we can discuss potential changes like these in a chat room or instant messenger or something. I value your opinion very much azumax and lordnikon, along with the rest of you!

By getting the "Sort by.. earliest" feature working I was hoping to satisfy the amount of browsing you would have to do for each daily update. All that is required to have the links on the main page go straight to the displayed manga is an equation that I have yet to devise. But I would imagine that would only reduce the browsing rather than get rid of it since you would then have to go back to the main page and click the next manga you want to download. Although I could just have the links on the main page go straight to the "Sort by... earliest" results... actually that wouldn't be hard at all I may just do that.

When you made the comment about including the flash games in the game section it dawned on me that I have a bunch of them ready to go, I just hadn't thought of a good way to present them. I could organize the games by letter like the manga section and put up a bunch of flash games in the same format as the games already are and have a "Play Online" button similiar to the "View Online" button in the video section, and perhaps finally some torrents.

Also last summer when I was first thinking of how I would go about creating the best hentai website on the face of the earth, the plan was to include their censorship level in the list of attributes for each manga. And now that the element of color has become so commonplace that should be listed as well. In addition I want to at some point include a way to describe the content of each manga (futanari, yaoi, loli, etc.). I have an idea of creating a group of icons that describe the manga (example fur paw for futanari) and having them displayed in one of the corners of each manga box.

If you hadn't noticed there is no longer a "Total Downloads" value on any of the files. This is because I used to use a javascript text file to track them rather than having it all added to the MySQL table all the manga data is saved in. For some reason the server lost all the information in that text file so I am going to have to change over to a MySQL download counter (which I have yet to find code for) and all the old download numbers will be lost. But it is for the better I suppose, it will be a lot easier for me to do stuff with that information once it is in MySQL.

Also in the works are the user ranks! I have yet to even touch upon this because I have all this other stuff to work on. There will be a bunch of user stats sometime in the future that will be displayed in your profiles. I would like to even allow for you to completely modify your profile pages so you can change colors, fonts, images etc. and show off all your skills. Maybe even YouTube videos?

Not to mention I am still working on allowing users to upload to the main page, which is a surprisingly difficult thing to setup. Needless to say there are a lot of things that can be improved and I am going to get them all done, but I will need your help as well :D

But all this talking has got me worked up and I want you to discuss these and any ideas you have till your fingers hurt from typing so much! As you know I don't get much done on the weekends so you'll have to continue this discussion with minimal responses from me until Sunday night. I don't mind working on all of this stuff, in fact I love it so don't hold back.

Well if you want, I could probably manage to sort out much of the manga you have online by content and by censoring and crap, but it'd take a while seeing as I'm in the same boat as you as far as working and schooling go. But the offer's still on the table.

I also think it'd be neat if you could do a sort everything by series thing. For example, you want to see everything Final Fantasy on the site, so you choose something from the dropdown and submit it, giving you everything to do with FF from manga, to images, to games, to videos. While you're correct in something like this reducing browsing of the site, it's also a feature I haven't seen implimented before. I do admit though, that I know nothing about programming (aside from a little C++), but if I remember the basics right, it shouldn't be all too difficult as long as things are properly tagged.

I think the sort everything by series idea is a good one, however it would take a bit of time to set something like that up. Combining videos, games, and manga would be easy but images would be pretty difficult. Either way I will see what I can do. Having features that other hentai sites don't is a big plus.

And I am very interested in having you sort the manga by censorship :D I'll just need to figure out a way to rate them based on the censors. If we want it to be Censored? Yes or No, or on a scale from 1 to 5 or something. Plus I'll need to figure out a stylish way to add that to the table. What do you think we could do?

Well since there's four basic types of censor, I figure we can use a 4-star rating system. I'll post examples later, but for now I'll just describe. 1 Star would mean that there's no censorship. 2 Stars would be used to describe those annoying censor bars. 3 would be used to describe the entire censoring with pixelation/distortion, and 4 would be used for complete whiting/blacking out. This would probably have to be maintained by the uploaders, as a user-based ranking system always has the chance of being horribly wrong. There would also be something like this so people don't get confused:

Censored: Yes (****) <---- Stars

I think a "search by fetish" would be more appropriate, with checkboxes for each fetish to include in the search parameters. It could either be hidden using javascript (or I could just be talking out my ass) or on another page all together.

If you need an example, Boxtorrents would be a good one.

Also, for future reference, note that there's a link on the Image section that leads to this page where you can request categories. I know that in the latest post, Jacob redirects you to this page, but I guess it was meant for something else. I'll add the SF section now.

I think there should be a separate page for past updates and that the main page should only be used for that specific day's updates. This would totally eliminate scrolling and make browsing easier.

Good idea! Should take the Paper page and put it in the forum and replace it with a Update page.
