Humanitys purpose
0
I was thinking earlier what is humanity's purpose i mean we have an infinite number of animals, insect etc. on this planet but why are we the ones to be the dominant species? why are we the ones able to build buildings, weapons and stuff?
basically what i mean is why do you think we were put onto this planet apart??

By walking upright, humans had their arms free to focus on other activities, opposable thumbs have facilitated the grip on objects allowing the construction of tools and our brain is, in proportion, bigger than most other animals.
This is a pretty watered down version of what I heard in many places but I think I've made my point clear. (Some theorize viruses are the true dominant species due to their adaptibility but even if they're alive is debatable).
Now, I have no reason to believe we have a reason to be alive. Evolution took its course through billions of years, reaching many dead ends and by chance, humanity was born. Life is what you make it. :|

I'm pretty sure we've had this topic remade in a plethora of forms throughout the course of FAKKU's history, and so, I will say what I think very simply.
We are lucky animals, as we happened to develop the capacity for abstract thought (and the ability to act reasonably according to these thoughts) before any other animal. Our purpose differs not from other animals: to thrive.

This depends on what you believe in. If you believe in the Abrahamic God, for instance, humans were put on earth to worship him. If you have no belief in a higher power then there is no reason. If you believe space aliens seeded the galaxy for food,
then we're all just waiting to be harvested by our alien masters.
_Why_, in other words, is something that depends on knowing how (and by extension _who_) created humans. Given that we can't answer the how and who (if any) just yet, the why is even more elusive. In the meantime, as a species capable of rationalization, we can make our own personal reasons as to why we exist.

If you expect to be given any purpose...heh. Just accept that it was all luck, and we're here without any real purpose. But that doesn't mean we're to live our life without any, just that you won't be getting any purpose sitting around...
Life is as fulfilling as you make it to be.

Why? I don't believe in a god or higher (spiritual) power; basically, without demonstrable, quantifiable evidence (not just desires, emotions and feelings) I'm not buying the stories. But because of that you say there is no reason?
My reason is to enjoy this one life, improive myself and try to improve the lives of those around me. In my opinion believing in a next life et alia simply negates the preciousness of this mortal, earthly coil.

To make plastic.
No, but in all seriousness... I do not believe there actually is a reason. Nothing at all, we're just here out of chance.

"Reason" implies cause and effect. There is a cause, and the effect is life. For deists, this cause is God.
You cannot say "I was brought into this life because I enjoy life." That just doesn't make sense. Unless you have a time machine and fathered yourself.
"Reason" also implies an intelligent force behind your creation. If you are an aetheist, then obviously you do not believe there is a (supernatural) intelligent force behind the creation of mankind. Unless you believe in aliens or some such. Thus, mankind was not put on earth for a reason. It just is.
Also, read the rest of my post.
In the meantime, as a species capable of rationalization, we can make our own personal reasons as to why we exist.
Which is exactly what you did.
My reason is to enjoy this one life, improive myself and try to improve the lives of those around me.

Our purpose is the same as any other living things on the planet:
Eat, fuck, and sleep, rinse and repeat till death.

agreed
we are random freaks of nature (freaks in a good way) and we happen to have evolved here on this planet we call earth. Our purpose is to make babies and spread ourselves to every inch of every space.

Luck, and by that I dont mean some "force" that can manipulate nature to either help or fuck you up. Just the simple idea of luck.

Seriously tho I dont think humans are even capable of ending the planet. The planet has been here for a couple billion years, tasted worst stuff like meteorites, ice age and stuff. And the boom of human industry that cause major polution just started around a couple hundred years. Polution doesnt end the planet, it ends us.
So Ill guess Human's purpose is to set the fastest record for a worldwide species extinction?
I dont think humanity has a purpose in general, since every one of us is much different. There can only be individual purposes, mine is to live as long as I can and enjoy my life untill I die.

Humanity's Purpose it to end all life on the Planet(including themselves) so the planet can start all over again...
