Dream Theater

I checked the first 11 pages, no topic.
Yeah, Dream Theater. Mike Portnoy, one of the best drummers alive right now. A great prog-metal group, they make amazing music.
and the rest of the songs I wanna put up are too long for youtube.
A Nightmare To Remember
The Glass Prison
In The Name Of God
Yeah... Discuss.

Let the P0tat0eboy links roll in!
Any new word on their next album? Black Clouds & Silver Linings was amazing.
What I liked most about Black Clouds & Silver Linings was the finale of the five step program from Portnoy, The Shattered Fortress. It was a compilation of The Glass Prison, Repentance, The Root of All Evil, and This Dying Soul... all in one epic song. Probably my favorite piece off the album.
Probably their best/most famous masterpiece, Octavarium.
Some other good songs by them

Octavarium is definitely their best track. Too bad they hardly ever reach that level, save SFAM album.

Listened to Octavarium, it was good, but I liked other stuff more. =\
But I did come acros this: http://dt.spatang.com/octavarium.php
A list of every reference used in the album. There's a shitload of them.

Holy fuck, just had a full listen of their SFAM album for the first time since a few months and it's definitely their best for me. Nostalgic and atmospheric to the max.

Well, wuduyunaw... they're making an instrumental track for God of War 3, 'Raw Dog'.
And Opeth will release a song for the game as well, called 'The Throat of Winter'

Best progressive rock band nowadays in my opinion
I've been listening to Systematic Chaos, Black Clouds & Silver Linings for now.
Liked In The Pressence of Enemies (Part 1 + 2) , Constant Motion, A nightmare to remember, A rite of passage, and Count of Tuscany.
Btw, Octavarium sounds really good, I'm going to DL it.

OMG!!! How can you have a thread about dream theater and not mention PULL ME UNDER!!

Bumping this thread because it's the main thread.
Anyone listen to all of Scenes From A Memory? I haven't, but I can't help but feel that it's the most emotion provoking album I've ever listened to. There are time where I'm literally on the verge of crying (manly tears?).
Has anyone solved the mystery? =3= (Without looking at a friggen analysis)
Personally, my three favourite songs:

I like them in smaller doses, but in all honesty I always liked their predecessors, Fates Warning a lot more. Still there's plenty of Dream Theater songs I enjoy in and of themselves. Fatal Tragedy being a fav.

Heck. YES!
This made my entire summer, 8 days in. Dream Theater without Portnoy hardly sounds any different, so there goes my biggest worry. This new song is still amazing, though it sounds a bit more like A Rite of Passage than the other songs on their previous albums. AND THAT PIANO AT 5:52 IS JUST AMAZING.
Overall, it's a bit less heavy than their previous album, in a good way.

I just realized I only have 3 DT songs in my library. What?! How can you...!?
Man, I felt like giving you all DT songs on my lappy now.
Don't have the official CD or such, but I got all of their songs in my laptop and PC and Ipod and anything that can play music that I own.

I don't know. I never got into progressive metal at all. Queensryche and Fates Warning are the only progressive bands I really like. Everyone keeps recommending DT to me, but I just can't seem to get into it no matter how much I try. Same deal with Opeth.
I wish I knew why.
