Alan Wake

I really can't believe there isn't a thread for this yet.

Alan Wake is a psychological thriller from Remedy.
Alan Wake is about a writer that travels to Bright Falls for a vacation to try and cure his writers block.
Then some weird shit goes down. His wife, Alice, goes missing and Alan bursts into Rambo and starts domnating the supernatural. And the soundtrack kicks ass.
That's a more hardcore version of the summary. But I don't care.
I'd rather not say anything else really. It'll spoil the fun, creepy and paranormal parts of the game that make it what it's supposed to be.
I'm a good chunk into the game. And it's really, REALLY, REALLY awesome.
Notice I used large font to express my opinion.
I'm not sure what I could compare it to, to show what the game is like.
It's the kind of game you want to play at night with the volume up(or in my case a Turtle Beach at max volume).
This is definitely worth a buy. Or at least a rent.
It's not a horror game. It's a thriller.
There's no gore, no intense violence and no giant evil bug creatures.
I know that may sound deturring from playing it, but I honestly think it makes the game better.
Too much gore in games drives from the plot and fear of it. Gets more into just rampant violent bullshit.
But enough of my thoughts.
What'cha guys think about it?

I've completed it once and now I'm on the Nightmare difficutly. + trying to get the rest of the collictibles I missed (there are around 300 collectibles in total)
I find it an amazing game.
It's a bit like Alone in the Dark. Where Fire plays a big role here lights plays a big role.

It looks pretty unique but it doesn't seem like this is my kind of shit.
That's just bullshit.
Complete bullshit.

Bullshit because it's not in the game?
Or bullshit because it exists?

Ya.
The second bullshit because I don't agree.

Not everything needs gore.
It's only opinions anyway. Some people prefer not to have it in games. Some do. Some don't care.
Gore would only throw this game into a horror story. And that's not what it is.
So while I don't have a problem with gore, for this game, I'd rather not have it.
Which is why I agree on Remedy's choosing for the level of it.

So I was at my friends house who was playing this game. Looks good.
I was watching the part where he meets some guy in an asylum? and Alan pointed a gun at him, then the lights went and some ghost shit came out and killed him, then I left. Overall, looks pretty interesting. I asked him what would he rate it, and he said 9/10.
So if I have the chance I'll pick this up.

Not everything needs gore.I prefer the Gore option.
Start game -> Go to options -> You want gore? Y/N -> Move on with your day.
Of course, I never turn the option off. Some games even give multiple gore options, as a result, I make sure the highest level is selected.

Wasn't the point of what I said. Simply put, I'm not getting the game. Hopefully, my friend sees something magical in it and uses his money on this bloodless thriller. Glad it also came out for 360.

amazing game. played one episode a night, each night this past week, at midnight of course with the lights off. total submersion. gotta say its one of the most intelligent games ive played this generation, if ever. its currently in my #2 spot for GOTY behind Mass Effect 2.
i actually rented it at first, but by the end i was so blown away by it that i decided to buy the collectors edition. this game is either gonna be a huge sleeper hit, or a cult classic. its too bad it was overshadowed by the release of Red Dead (a good game itself, but not as good as Wake)
also, lol @ the argument that the game isnt good cause theres no gore. thats just silly troll talk, yall should ignore it.

I couldn't afford this game, so I watched someone play it on JTV. Caught the second half of the game and I thought it looked like great fun. I'm a complete wuss when it comes to horror games, but this looked like something I'd be willing to play.
I personally wouldn't buy Alan Wake, but it looks like a great rent. Not to say some people wouldn't enjoy this as a buy, it just seems like a game that I would play once. I did see a couple really fun scenes when watching the playthrough, and the story had me really interested. I'd try it out just to fully understand it.
