Microsoft Powerpoint Video

Does anyone know how to embed videos onto Powerpoint?
Or
Does anyone know any cool tricks that Microsoft Office does?

Hi! Sorry if this reaches you a little late as I realize that this question was posted over a day ago however I also have noticed that there has been no response yet therefore I have decided to publish my own response.

(note: these published methods were created with the power point 2007 user in mind)

First if you wish to embed a you tube video use the following technique(note: this method requires an internet connection on the computer running the presentation.):

1.) click on the office button and then click on the option titled PowerPoint options

2.) click on popular and be certain that the box titled "show developer tab ribbon" is checked off

3.) click on the developer tab
4.) Then click on the more controls option that will be represented as a hammer plus wrench icon.

5.) In the new window scroll down and select "shockwave flash object" then click ok.

6.) Then on the selected slide where the video will be played click on the slide and use the mouse to select the size and location where the video will be displayed.
7.) Right click on the box that was drawn on the slide then select properties from the available options

8.) In the movie attribute section paste a the videos modified url.
Note(modified url): Go to the YouTube video page you'd like to add, and check the URL in the address bar of your Web browser. You'll get an address like

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHzdsFiBbFc

Change the phrase watch?v= to v/, and now the address becomes

http://www.youtube.com/v/sHzdsFiBbFc
9.) Then set the value of Playing and Loop to false and close the tab when the changes have been made the box should look something like the picture below

10.) If the changes were made correctly the video should play when clicked on during a PowerPoint presentation

If you want to insert a video file that is stored on the computer memory do the following:
Spoiler:

1.)Select the slide where the movie will be inserted
2.) Select the insert tab then click movie in the media clip group

3.) Find and select the movie that you want to insert and click on ok

4.) then click on automatically to have the clip play automatically or when clicked to have the movie play when it is clicked on.

If you wish to insert a custom background using a jpeg or moving gif file follow the following steps or else!!
Spoiler:

1.) Right click on the background of the slide
2.) then select the format background option

3.) In the format background window select picture or texture fill.

4.)Then select the background in this case I will post a .jpg file so insert from file will be selected to insert the background however it is also possible to post gif files as well or use one of the preset texture backgrounds.

5.) Find and select the picture that you wish to add to the background.
6.) Then click insert.

6. Congratulations the background has been added to the background!
