First and fore most I am not talking about the shitty manga, I am talking about the Book and the Movie. Who here has either read the book or seen the movie?

Saw the movie, thought it was interesting. I found it a little bit campy, which could have been intended, but I didn't feel that it fit well with the plot. It's also a little harder to judge a movie when you don't speak the language.

But still to get a better grasp of what is happening I suggust reading the book as well.

Where would I find the movie I really want to see it now. Speaking of Battle Royal has anyone seen the American version of it, it is called The Condemned. It was alright.

Go to ISOHunt and search "Battle Royale" for a torrent or Buy a copy of the DVD off of Amazon, and you can find the novel that started it all at Barnes and Nobel.
Edit: or if you could wait about 2 weeks I can get the entire DVD onto an ISO file.

Saw the movie, thought it was awesome. Wasn't the girl from Kill Bill in it? The one with the ball and chain. Been awhile since I've watched either.

Read the book first and saw the first movie. It was a fun read/watch.What ever you do do not waste your time with the second.

Yeah, the sequel was pretty lame. And yes Chiaki Kuriyama (Gogo Yubari) was in Battle Royale too.
I don't really think The Condemned was a remake, the only thing they have in common is people on an island killing each other to survive. The American movie is just a typical action film. Battle Royale pits 9th graders against each other. It's just more messed up since kids are forced to off each other with random weapons (I felt bad for the kid who got a pot lid, or trash can lid, something absurd and useless).

I watched the second and thought it was sort of okay. The parts that were good were decent and the parts that were bad were fucking moronic as hell. The scene where there rugby coach/teacher was chewing pills and they were falling out of his mouth just made me laugh. The main guy from the sequel also looks exactly like a Japanese version of a guy I used to work with.
Like everyone else, I thought the first one was better. A relatively decent movie (basically a B+ B movie) that would be worth seeing at least one more time. I think it would benefit from a modern remake that made it more serious. The campyness kinda fucked with it a bit too much.
I've been intending to read the book for some time but I've been too poor to buy it.

Shuya(The male lead) was the guy with the pot lid, and Noriko(The Female Lead) was the one wit Binoculars. But then remember Kazuo(the psycho dude ta kill half the people) had a Harisen to begin with.
