This is fukken tasty. It's like a fried banana, but the outer skin is really crunchy, and the banana inside is really tasty.
I got a recipe here : http://arcawinangun.blogsome.com/2006/07/27/molen/
It's in Indonesian, so I'll just translate it..
This one is for about 20 pieces.
250 gram wheat flour
50 gram white sugar
1 yolk
60 gram margarine
50 ml warm water
salt
vanilla
grated cheese (optional)
4 pieces of banana (in the recipe, she used the one from Ambon) chop it into pieces (remember, don't chop it too small or too big).
--
1. Mix the flour, sugar, salt, and vanilla, then stir it
2. Put the yolk and margarine into it, then stir it again using your hand
3. Pour the water bit by bit, stir it again, then put the cheese
4. Cover the dough with plastic, then leave it for 20 minutes in room temperature.
5. Grind the dough into approximately 1-2 ml then slice them into long dough, around 3 cm, then wrap it around the chopped banana
6. Fry it in hot oil until it turned yellow (so it'll cooked well, use quite many oil)

Well, I haven't try the recipe myself, but it sure taste good (I bought them though).

Some quick questions if its ok... Ive never seen this before O.o and I want to make it...
What size is just right for the chopped banana?
How much vanilla should I use? (I am going to be using vanilla sugar btw)
What type of cheese and how much of it?

Not OP, but I'll try to help. For the bananas, just cut them to halves or maybe smaller, try the size of your finger. Also if you can't find Ambon, any kind of banana will do as long as they're sweet and soft, hmm try Cavendish? Just use cheddar cheese. Not sure about the vanilla. Hope that helps a little.

That does look tasty--I love fried bananas of all sorts, so this recipe is right up my alley. I'd love to try that with cream cheese, actually.

Is this also called Pisang Goreng? Or is that something else all together?Nope, Pisang Goreng is this one

Molen is different. They both use bananas, but the taste is really different.
Actually, you don't need to use cheese, it's just an additional.
Ah, for the size of the chopped banana, it depends on you actually. If you chop it into half, then it'll become a big molen, but you can also chop it into small pieces, that way you'll get bite-sized molen.
For the vanilla, it depends on how big is the chopped banana, it'll be used as the outer layer after all.

I believe my brother's girlfriend makes that once in awhile. Although, she puts chocolate instead of cheese in there.

That is probably my favourite fried banana dish ever. Battered deep fried bananas are so damn delicious. Banana cue is a close second:

Cheese is additional, like what i said before, so how much cheese should be added is up to you
