Redo a Series with different Actors

In music, plays, musicals, operas and the like are performed, they aren't performed only once by one cast (of course there are exceptions). They are often performed multiple times by multiple sets of people. They each bring they're own character to the performance making it 'their own', whether or not they are purely trying to imitate.
This is already apparent with remakes of movies, but it seems like most of the time, people despise the remake due to one thing or another. It would seem that remakes should be able to have the capacity to be just as decent as the original but for some reason it isn't. What is wrong with the redo? Should 'other groups' try and retell the story to see if they can match the hype of it's original or not?
How about for TV shows whether it be a sitcom re-vamp with different actors or a cartoon with new VA?

I can't think of any series off the top of my head, but this is proof-of-concept of what OP is talking about, even if it completely changes the mood of everything.

It's Star Wars, redone by renown cartoon character voice actors. It's completely silly but amazing.
