Path of Exile
Public Stress Test weekend coming up at the end of the week, who else is coming along for the ride?
For anyone who hasn't heard of Path of Exile, check out the link at the top of the post. I can't really describe it well, but it looks extremely promising, even for a Diablo clone. And given that Diablo III was absolutely awful (my opinion, feel free to disagree, but in the D3 topic) I feel like games like this and Torchlight 2 have a very large opportunity to clean up the mess that Blizzard left behind.
What I find most interesting about this game so far is the amazing complexity of the skill tree. It's not even accurate to call it a skill tree, it's a skill WEB. And these are just passive skills. Check this shit out: http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/
Opinions and information, gogogo.

A skill web, hm? I may have to check it out later. Although I'd need to make the all-important decision on whether to start at green or blue before I actually start.

Their skill tree is ridiculous, I love how huge it is. I played this for about an hour some time ago, didn't really invest much into it. I'll have to check it out again sometime. Anybody burned on Diablo 3 should look into this for sure.

Servers open up in four more hours for anyone interested in trying this out for the weekend. I'm going to be playing a Duelist. Not sure what kind of build I'll be making yet.

I was thinking of going with a duelist as well, with a sword/shield build. Still high on evasion though, hoping to be able to dodgetank and clear of whatever damage I can't dodge by blocking.
My build
Not that I'll be able to go this far anytime soon. Also I have no clue if this is any good at all, I'm not familiar with the game yet.

As a beta tester I can tell you for a fact that witches are by far the easiest to build and play. Duelists can be also quite potent with an attack speed/avoidance or armor build. Elemental or chaos damage templars work also really well in the later levels. And finally this marauder is the shit. Link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTtISGgVpVw
Sadly I will not be able to join you since I am on my shit laptop that cant handle the game. I hope this thread stays active and we are able to run and act(or two) when I get to my desktop.

I've found moderate success as a sword and shield duelist built into Iron Reflexes and Unwavering Stance, focusing on more dex than str, and taking sword damage and max health+regen nodes to cover it up.
EDIT: Check this shit out, this is what my build is going to look like at level 69. (2 skill points from quests per difficulty, six difficulties.)

Alright, the public weekend is up.
I ended up playing as a Witch instead of a Duelist, as I realized that range is pretty OP right of the bat. However, I don't think I'll keep playing this game after release. I've never been too fond of the dungeon-crawler genre, and this is as much crawling through dungeons as you can get. It was fun for a while though.
